Soul thirst

Posted on October 22, 2014October 22, 2014 by Norm

SCRIPTURE: John 4:1-15
“For Jews do not associate with Samaritans.” (John 4:9)
Racial, cultural and religious divisions abound in our world today.
The Enemy of our souls has succeeded in turning us against each other.
We were made for life WITH God and life WITH each other.
Separated from God, separated each other, our souls are dying.
We desperately seek to resolve our soul’s thirst for life and happiness.
But we cannot find it – not without God, not without each other.
Jesus breaks down the hostility between God and people. (Ephesians 4:14-18)
He makes it possible for all people to come to God and find life.
To drink again from the life-giving Spirit, and to experience LIFE to the full.
All our seeking, striving and struggling in life is because we have lost LIFE.
Jesus comes to all races, cultures and religions, and offers reconciliation, and LIFE.
“A spring of water welling up to eternal life.” (John 4:14)
Are you thirsty for this kind of soul-satisfying LIFE?
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, remind me again how my deepest desire is to reconciled – to God, to people, and to life itself. Remind me again how You alone can satisfy that thirst.

    Observation/Application
The disciples did the baptizing – and many more were added as disciples. Jesus had engaged His disciples into active service.
Talking to a Samaritan woman showed that Christ is for all. There was no hatred found in Him. In Him was Life and He had the Life giving Source – the Living Water – the Spirit of God – enabling His people. In order to have the JOY of the Lord one needs
    J – Jesus
    O – others
    Y – yourself
    There is no other way.

The joy of the Lord is my strength,
the joy of the Lord is my strength,
The joy of the Lord is my strength,
the joy of the Lord is my strength.
He heals the broken hearted and they cry no more,
He heals the broken hearted and they cry no more.
He heals the broken hearted and they cry no more,
the joy of the Lord is my strength.

He gives me living water and I thirst no more,
He gives me living water and I thirst no more.
He gives me living water and I thirst no more,
the joy of the Lord is my strength.

think about it!

It is in the ordinary duties and labors of life that the Christian can and should develop his spiritual union with God.
