SCRIPTURE: Luke 24:44-49
“Clothed with power from on high.” (Luke 24:49)
God created humans to be His representatives (image-bearers), to rule and care for the world.
He equipped them with ‘power from on high’ (ie the Spirit/Breathe of life) to fulfill their calling.
“Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.” (Genesis 2:7)
But through our sinful choices, humans separated themselves from God, and from His power, and from His life.
Under this curse of death (by being unplugged from God/life), we become powerless and die.
No human being can break this curse, not until God sends the messiah – the messiah, the perfect human.
A son of man just like us, He lives as a faithful son of God – the first one to ever do this.
He resists Satan’s tricks and lies, He perseveres in goodness to the very end, and thus defeats Satan.
Death cannot hold Him, because Satan could not beat Him.
Finally, an Adam (son of man, human) is representing God fully, ruling and caring for the world.
He is fully empowered by the Spirit/breath of power and life, and He plugs us back in too!
Now in Jesus we have our calling back, we can once again go out and live/witness for God.
And He equips us with ‘power from on high’ (ie the Spirit/Breathe of life) to fulfill their calling.
“Jesus said, ‘Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.’ 22 And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. (John 20:21-22)
I have the Spirit of God in me, helping me to fulfill my calling as a restored servant of God.
Every conversation, every action, every prayer, every good deed, is supercharged with God’s life and power.
Our problem is not lack of power, it is lack of understanding.
We need Jesus to open our minds so that we can understand the Scriptures, and the Spirit!
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, I still do not understand. I still act as if I need to do this in my own power. Help me to see that Your power in me is the key to living my life with You in Your world!
Observation/Application
Remember and believe the Word of the Lord.
Remember what He said that He would do.
Remember.
And
He said He would be with them – His Gift – the Spirit.
Iy is only by His power we are able to see – see all what He has done. In Him only do we see the Light.
An so today, I can go forward because of what He has done and the gift He has given. Lead on O King eternal.

that I may love what thou dost love,
and do what thou wouldst do.

until my heart is pure,
until with thee I will one will,
to do and to endure.
3. Breathe on me, Breath of God,
till I am wholly thine,
till all this earthly part of me
glows with thy fire divine.
4. Breathe on me, Breath of God,
so shall I never die,
but live with thee the perfect life
of thine eternity.
