SCRIPTURE: Psalm 95
St. Augustine said, ‘Our hearts find no rest until they rest in God’.
Because he murdered his brother, Cain became a “restless wander” (Genesis 4:14).
When we wander from God, like foolish sheep, we become restless wanderers.
Everything in this world depends on God – including us.
We are foolish to think we can find happiness and peace without God.
If we keep refusing to listen, if we keep refusing God’s gracious offer…
We will not enter His rest.
People have found ways to find counterfeit peace and rest, but it is shallow, and temporal.
Deep inside, we all sense that something is wrong, and we keep on searching, keep on hoping.
The best way to experience the deep joy and peace we all long for, is to find our rest in God.
God is not a tyrant, God is not cruel; He is a good shepherd, and will lead us into good places.
Join in the song, surrender to God, and experience His peace and rest.
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28)
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, whenever my heart is restless, I know I am wandering from You. I feel it right now. Guide me back into Your presence, and into Your peace.
This is something I have been wrestling for months. The inner calm and peace I finally felt is gone. I can’t help but feel like a scolded child. Like I need to change or do something to get the calming peace back. I miss it ):
Observation/Application
The invitation – come.
The how – sing songs of joy and thanksgiving for He has done mighty things.

The how – in worship – prayerfully of we are His.
Listen to His voice.
See what I have done in days past.
Listen and be at rest
for there is only rest for His sheep.
Listen and do and follow
to the voice which says
‘Follow Me.’
Know God. Know peace(rest).
I am thankful for this day to sing songs of joy and praise with His people. Help me find rest in You Lord every day of the week for each day is a day of My Lord God – a Lord’s day.
