Observations/Application
Wow! the number of sacrifices as Solomon went before the Lord. Going all out. And in His presence Solomon asks for wisdom which the Lord grants. Bring all things before the Lord. Come into His presence always for we are always in His presence. Do everything as He is with us at all times.
The temple was a place for sacrifices since God, our God, is so great that He cannot be contained. The whole earth is filled with His glory. See it? Look for it also today. Have the eyes that see His presence in all things.
Solomon built the temple adorned with God created metals/minerals. It contained the finest of the known world that day and the cost – he did not consider the cost but built it using the best metals and workman possible that day. Impressive. The people would stand in awe when seeing this beautiful place. It was God’s place.
Once again when the ark was brought to the temple, sacrificing took place – so many that it could not be counted. All for God – never counting the cost because all is for Him and unto Him. Once again the cloud showed the presence of the Lord and His glory filled the place. His glory fills the whole earth but do I have the eyes to see it?
Solomon, the people’s leader was open with his devotion to God showing the people openly – the platform. The leaders of today need to do the same to lead the people – show the people their walk and talk with God for as the leader goes, so go the people. As the Lord taught the people then how to live by the various means – disease, drought, plagues – may the people know that it is the hand of the Lord leading them back to serve Him. We/I need to see the hand of the Lord each day to lead me and guide me in the way that I should go. Hear the prayers of Your people always Lord and may the people/I be faithful to talk with You each day. Help me to live a life of thanksliving each day.
‘If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.’ This is God’s promise. But if we forsake Him, all will be destroyed – His temple – His creation – His abode among the people.
Serve Him and only Him always and forevermore.
Prayer
Help me always to see Your glorious presence Lord in all things and help me to talk to You all through each day so my walk is always in Your SonShine.
O for a closer walk with God,
A calm and heavenly frame,
A light to shine upon the road
That leads me to the Lamb!
Where is the blessedness I knew,
When first I saw the Lord?
Where is the soul refreshing view
Of Jesus and His Word?
What peaceful hours I once enjoyed!
How sweet their memory still!
But they have left an aching void
The world can never fill.
Return, O holy Dove, return,
Sweet messenger of rest!
I hate the sins that made Thee mourn
And drove Thee from my breast.
The dearest idol I have known,
Whate’er that idol be
Help me to tear it from Thy throne,
And worship only Thee.
So shall my walk be close with God,
Calm and serene my frame;
So purer light shall mark the road
That leads me to the Lamb.
