Reflecting on Acts 4:1-22“Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12)
The only hope for rescue from this broken, messed-up world is the love of God.
God’s Name is compassion, grace, patience, abounding love, faithfulness, unfailing love, forgiveness.
This was God’s Name to Israel (Exodus 34:6-7), and it is the Name given to Jesus.
Because of His great love we are not consumed; we are forgiven, set free and restored!
This love applies to everyone, not just a select few… blessing all nations (Acts 3:25).
It is not the church, correct doctrine, or perfect morality that saves us.
Nor is it making a decision for Jesus, saying a prayer, and you are saved.
Everyone is saved by God’s love, but not everyone will receive that love.
Some will reject what the Name of Jesus means, and choose hate instead.
Instead of healing and helping others, they will hinder and hurt others.
How we respond to love is the key to whether we experience salvation or not.
Those in religious or political power rejected Jesus’s love, but the crowds welcomed it.
When Jesus comes again, He will come again in the glory of God’s radical love.
When people meet that love face to face, their response will determine their destiny.
God’s radical love (the Name/Character of God) as seen in Jesus is the ONLY way to be saved.
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, Your gracious love is the only way anyone is or will be saved. May we both declare and demonstrate this radical love to all people, so they can taste the salvation God has in store for them. We can't make people drink in Your love, but we can make them thirsty!
