Reflecting on Luke 20:9-19
“Everyone who falls on that stone will be broken to pieces; anyone on whom it falls will be crushed.”
What strikes me in Jesus’s parable is how weak the Owner is with the stewards.
Again and again he sends servants, and even his son, to his rebellious stewards!
They reject them all… like builders reject some stone as weak and unusable.
Jesus quotes Psalm 118, how God chooses uses stone that human builders reject.
When building something grand, you need to use the best, the strongest.
Jesus is seen as a weak stone, cracked and unusable for God.
Yet that stone was not weak in God’s hands (like David’s pebbles against Goliath).
Those who ignore God’s stone will trip over it, and break like pottery.
That stone will one day crush them… not so weak afterall.
It is not God’s wrath that breaks and crushes, it is God’s love.
By rejecting God’s love and refusing to be loving, we are ruined.
God builds His kingdom with what seems to be weak stone – love.
Jesus and the Jesus Way of love is God’s Way of building His vineyard.
In the end those who refuse to receive and reflect God’s love will lose it.
Do I see Jesus-like love as the foundation and mortar, or do I see it as weak?
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, love is not just an idea, it is an action. Today I will have the opportunity to choose or reject love as a response to situations that arise. Help me to receive God's blessing like a good steward, to share that blessing with everyone You send to me today.

Following their Rabbi, the disciples tried to live as Jesus did. Being a Christian means being like Christ unto others. How do I carry Christ from day to day in all my words and deeds. The love Christ has for His people I need to share in my daiy living. May others see Christ jesus in me.
