Can you see him?

Posted on January 17, 2024January 10, 2024 by Norm

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Luke 2:25-32

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“For my eyes have seen your salvation…” (Luke 2:30)
Unlike Simeon, I cannot see my salvation with my physical eyes.
But I have been “moved by the Spirit” (2:27) to see it by faith.
How do I explain it: I sense it, I feel it, I know it deep inside.
Whenever I see Jesus in my mind, I am also moved to praise God.
When I see Jesus in His humble love and gracious kindness.
When I see Jesus patiently loving and serving his disciples.
When I see Jesus being tortured and crucified for no reason.
When I see Jesus alive, smiling and accepting me as his friend.
Consolation fills me, and I am encouraged, energized, hopeful!
Jesus is presented “in the sight of all nations”. (2:30)
Everyone can see what I see, and experience what I experience.
It does take the eyes of faith, being moved by the Spirit.
For me, thinking about Jesus is life transforming.
Like Simeon, I am moved to joy and praise, as I hold Jesus in my heart.
PRAYER
Lord, open the eyes of all who are desperate for love, joy and peace, so that they may see you with the eyes of their hearts too.

“a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of your people Israel.” What a beautiful picture of Jesus – pointing to the gospel going out for all people as well as the culmination of God’s promises to Abraham- Israel – David – the glory of Jesus – eternal king over all- whose kingdom is for all – through the covenant. Simeon points to beyond Israel to all people – including myself. Thank you for these beautiful words of revelation – it is why God revealed to Simeon as he waited diligently and expectantly for the baby Messiah to come! He was led by God to be in the right place at the right time!

    Waiting.
    Waiting takes patience.
How long did Simeon wait? Wait upon the Lord. He will renew your strength and mount you upon eagle’s wings and not be weary nor faint. The Holy Spirit was upon Simeon who was given a specific task. He was to see the Christ before he dies. And I, am I ready as Simeon was? Goe I too have the peace which Simeon had? God can take me or you at anytime. Am I ready being at peace with God and one another? Jesus Christ is my Light and salvation.

Open the eyes of my heart, Lord
Open the eyes of my heart
    I want to see You
    I want to see You

To see You high and lifted up
Shinin’ in the light of Your glory
Pour out Your power and love
As we sing holy, holy, holy

think about it!

The greatest good you can do for another is not just to share your riches but to reveal to him his own.
