Somehow he will!

Posted on March 24, 2023March 24, 2023 by Norm

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Genesis 21-22

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.” (Genesis 22:8)
God promised Abraham a great family through his only son Isaac.
When God asks Abraham to sacrifice Isaac, God’s promise is put to the test.
Abraham reasons that somehow God will bring Isaac back alive (see Hebrews 11:17-19).
Abraham trusted God’s promise, and God came through with a lamb.
Abraham did not know how prophetic his words were: God will provide the lamb!
Not Abraham’s son, but God’s Son, the lamb who takes away the sin of the world (John 1:29).
God promises to bless the world through Abraham, and Jesus fulfills that promise.
We can trust that Jesus has made a way through death to life, no matter what.
Trusting in God and Jesus like Abraham means looking at our own tough situations.
Is sickness, hardship, injustice, abuse, poverty, addiction, etc. messing up our lives?
“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:36-?39)
Hang on to this promise, and wait for the Lord to come through – somehow he will!
PRAYER
Lord, when things go against what I hoped for, help me to cling to your promise. Help me to repeat to myself again and again, ‘the Lord will come through, somehow he will!’

    “God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.” Abraham trusted that God would provide – He knew that God could replace Isaac and God did. It pointed to God the Father himself giving his son, but God did not stop – Jesus was sacrificed and he met the requirements of sin: the day you eat of that tree you shall die – and so Jesus died on the cross – the perfect one for the sinful ones. At the time God stopped Abraham, he provided a ram that was caught in the thicket and they offered it up as a sacrifice. God provided and He continues to provide for us – for me – for all who believe!

    Abraham trusted the Lord.
    Isaac trusted his father.
    That kind of trust I also need from day to day – God will provide.
    May I also this day walk and talk to my Father Who takes care of me each and every day.

    1 Be not dismayed whate’er betide,
    God will take care of you;
    Beneath his wings of love abide,
    God will take care of you.

    Refrain:
    God will take care of you,
    through ev’ry day, o’er all the way;
    He will take care of you,
    God will take care of you.

    2 Through days of toil when heart doth fail,
    God will take care of you;
    When dangers fierce your path assail,
    God will take care of you. [Refrain]

    3 No matter what may be the test,
    God will take care of you;
    Lean, weary one, upon his breast,
    God will take care of you. [Refrain]
