The right side of your ‘But!’

Posted on December 25, 2022December 23, 2022 by Norm

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Psalm 13

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“But I trust in your unfailing love…” (Psalm 13)
This one word ‘but’ is the critical turning point in this song.
The psalmist is genuinely troubled, feeling abandoned and unloved and defeated.
The word ‘but’ is this persons attempt to direct their thinking to hope.
They do not deny their situation… BUT I will trust, I will rejoice, I will sing!
Our soul will follow our mind; if our mind looks downward, our whole being will follow.
Consider these two sentences:
— ‘The Lord has been good to me… BUT I HAVE SORROW IN MY HEART!
— ‘I have sorrow in my heart… BUT THE LORD HAS BEEN GOOD TO ME!
If the negative follows the BUT, that’s where I soul stays.
Pay attention to your thoughts and conversations, where are they landing?
Which side of your ‘but’ is hope, and are you ending in hope or despair?
This is a battle – spiritual warfare – and the enemy wants you to end in despair.
Take up the sword of hope and slay the beast of defeat and despair.
We all fall on our butts in life, but choose to land on the right side of your ‘but’.
PRAYER
Lord, I can relate to these mind battles, I go through them all the time. I know the struggle will continue, BUT I will trust you, I will overcome, for you are good to me!

Waiting takes so long. Even waiting 10 mins for a bus or ION train – especially when it’s cold! We know David waited a long time and he was a fugitive a long time. Was hat on purpose? Did God make him wait on purpose? Is God acting patiently on purpose and teaching us the same? Does He makes us wonder like David – how long must we endure the evil around us – how much suffering has to go by before God relieves us or interacts? Long enough! Though I believe God provides and He is control – I only need to read the Bible or look back even in my own life to see how God has come to me and helped me through trying times of doubt and fear. God’s wants us all to be winners – His grace is sufficient and that is what I cling to and I hope I can help others find!

We do wrestle with our thoughts. Thoughts of things done and thoughts of our should have done but didn’t. These I need to lay at the cross and leave them there. His love covers all if I but trust in His unfailing love. He is the answer and it is in that Light I need to go forward. LIGHTshine. He will show me the Way to travel – in His Light. He is good and it is good to go forward singing His praises.

When We Walk With The Lord
In The Light Of His Word,
What A Glory He Sheds On Our Way!
While We Do His Good Will,
    He Abides With Us Still,
And With All Who Will Trust And Obey!

think about it!

We need to find God, and he cannot be found in noise and restlessness. God is the friend of silence. See how nature – trees, flowers, grass- grows in silence; see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence… We need silence to be able to touch souls.
