PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Ezekiel 47-48
What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?
“Deep enough to swim in — a river that no one could cross.” (Ezekiel 47:5)
Moses receives plans for the tabernacle while in the desert.
Ezekiel receives plans for the rebuilt temple while in exile.
John receives visions of the new creation while in exile (Revelation 21-22).
In each case, streams of water factor as part of the story.
Water from the rock (Exodus 17:6), water from the temple (Ezekiel 47:1).
And “the river of the water of life” in the new creation (Revelation 22:1-2).
The message is the same: God is designing a new place to live among us.
From him “living water” will restore the dead, the dying, the desperate.
What began as a trickle is soon be deep enough to swim in, too much to cross!
“Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them. By this he meant the Spirit.” (John 7:38-39)
One day LIFE will be deep enough to swim in, more than we can handle!
Jesus is the key to experiencing this deep, refreshing LIFE on the inside.
I’ve tasted it, yet I still long for more… do you?
PRAYER
Lord, I love the imagery of life-giving, refreshing streams. But I long for more of the experience. Please give me more of your life-giving, refreshing Spirit!
God the provider: “You are to allot it as an inheritance for yourselves and for the foreigners residing among you and who have children.” God allots land/provides for all the priests, the Levites and for the foreigners who have taken up residence among the Israelites – people who like Ruth now claim the God of Abraham – their God too. At the center is the ‘holy land’ – set aside for God to live among His people. Lord, may I always keep you as the center of my life! May I serve as a living temple of your grace!! I drink from the living water – your HS working within me!
