Can you see his footsteps?

Posted on January 1, 2022December 31, 2021 by Norm

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Isaiah 25-26

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“The feet of the oppressed, the footsteps of the poor.” (Isaiah 26:6)
Isaiah is singing a resurrection song (Isaiah 26:19), a song of hope.
His visions have given him hope that one day things will be set right.
It is hard for us to imagine how bad things were in those times.
Rulers ruled with power, the rich used and abused the poor.
The feet of the oppressor were always walking all over the little people.
Pushed to the ground, all they could see were the feet of their abusers.
But now Isaiah sees the feet of the poor and oppressed, trampling the powers.
Mighty cities are trampled into dust, powerful armies are given the boot.
Jesus was also bruised and kicked by the religious and Roman feet.
But he rose up from the ground and now all powers are under his feet.
Now we see his footsteps through history, overcoming evil with good.
I may not be poor or oppressed, but I follow Jesus, who comes for them.
If Jesus is my Lord, then singing hope to the poor and oppressed is my calling.
To wash the feet of the poor and oppressed, and guide them to Jesus!
PRAYER
Lord, make me an Isaiah, that I may inspire those who are struggling with resurrection hope, and help them see Jesus footsteps in their darkness.

There will be a reckoning: “See, the Lord is coming out of his dwelling to punish the people of the earth for their sins. The earth will disclose the blood shed on it; the earth will conceal its slain no longer.” Deut. 32:35 – God says “It is mine to avenge, I will repay…” God will mete out justice. Wait for the Lord. Still I pray for those that are victims of injustice – the persecuted and abused. Jesus had compassion on the poor and the victims of injustice – so should I follow his example! Help me Lord to care and to do my part.

As I enter the new year I am reminded by this passage once again that my trust is in the Lord for He is my everlasting Rock. As I continue my ‘pilgrim’s progress’ He continues to shed Light upon my way making the travels of each day a possibility for I place my hand in Yours to lead and guide me. As I stand on the threshold of a new year, guide my footsteps to always walk in the Light and may others also be brought to that Light.

When we walk with the Lord in the light of his Word
What a glory he sheds on our way!
While we do his good will, he abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.

think about it!

And people who do not know the Lord ask why in the world we waste our lives as missionaries. They forget that they too are expending their lives… and when the bubble has burst they will have nothing of eternal significance to show for the years they have wasted.
