Believing is seeing!

Posted on January 4, 2022January 3, 2022 by Norm

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: John 11:38-44

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“If you believe, you will see the glory of God?” (John 11:40)
I believe God CAN raise a dead person to life.
But I normally do not believe that God WILL raise a dead person.
For some reason, God doesn’t go about raising dead people on a regular basis.
God does do it for Lazarus, for the benefit of the people standing there.
That they might believe that Jesus was the messiah sent by God.
Why doesn’t this happen today, for the benefit of people today?
Is it because we don’t believe that God WILL do it?
Although it would be great if it did happen, it is not necessary for me.
Even if Lazarus wasn’t raised to life, I would still know God CAN do it.
Because I believe in a God that is able to do more than we ask or imagine.
My belief does not depend on signs to prove this.
If there is a God – and I do believe there is – this sign is nothing.
So even though I have not seen a dead person come back to life…
I believe I will see the glory of this God I believe in, one day!
PRAYER
Lord, thank you for showing me a God I can believe in, a God I can love. I’m hanging on for the day when my faith shall be sight!

To see with eyes of faith. Jesus wanted to make sure that everyone understood that he is the promised Messiah. That he is who he said he was – not just on the evidence of his testimony but also on the evidence of the miracles he performed. This is not the first incidence that he raised someone from the dead – but Lazarus is no doubt dead – they couldn’t just say he was sleeping, Skeptics might say he was in a coma all along – but for the people there Lazarus was dead – 4 days in the tomb. Jesus connects with the Father: “that they may believe that you sent me.” Lord Jesus you are the Messiah – the son of God who has come to save his people – I’m part of that – I see that with eyes of faith and experience it by your Holy Spirit. Eventually, Lazarus had to die again – but he died as a believer – so that he may be resurrected following the way of Jesus.

Remember Thomas? He needed to see in order to say, ‘My Lord and My God!’ Blessed are those who believe by faith. And Jesus did many more miracles that the people would believe. All of them showed the glory of God and this is His world and He is in charge. Help me daily Lord to see Your majesty and power leading your people in the way to walk. I’m am walking daily in His presence.

When we walk with the Lord
in the light of his word,
what a glory he sheds on our way!
While we do his good will,
    he abides with us still,
and with all who will trust and obey.

think about it!

We should establish ourselves in a sense of God’s presence by continually conversing with Him. It is a shameful thing to quit His conversation to think of trifles and fooleries.
