Trusted with something!

Posted on June 29, 2021June 28, 2021 by Norm

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Luke 16:10-15

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much.” (Luke 16:10)
God knows our hearts, God knows what we truly think and love (v.15).
Yet God still trusts us to some degree, and gives us the opportunity to shine.
Whatever we have received, whether much or little, is a trust from God.
And what we do with that trust will reveal what is most true about our hearts.
The poor are not justified because they are poor, nor the rich because they’re rich.
You can be poor and greedy too, as well as dishonest and unreliable.
What I see in these words is a reminder to focus on what I have, not ask for more.
Use what I have, even if it is little, to serve God and people.
Jesus has shown me how to do this, and wants to help me do it with him.
His Spirit works in me one baby step at a time, to be more gracious and generous.
He weans my heart from self-love and self-serving to restore me like himself.
He is trusting me with what I have; what will I do with it?
My gifts, opportunities, resources, time, whether much or little, is WHAT I have.
Here Jesus is urging me on HOW I use it, for investing in true riches (v.11)!
PRAYER
Lord, thank you for trusting me with all that I have. Help me to today to use it in a way that honours God and blesses others.

    I know I’ve been trusted with a lot – and I have been challenged by a lot of responsibility. Yet I know it is not mine and I know I can’t do well in my own strength. I am a servant – I must do my master’s bidding. I can not serve two masters – so all that I have is the Lord’s and I need to listen to what He wants me to do with what he has entrusted to me. Many times I can protective – selfish – forgive me Lord – help me to be open.

    Where your treasure is, there is also your heart. Whatever I have received it is for His purpose – gifts for service. Gifts not to hoard but to be a blessing. My material blessings are to be used in His service serving others and not myself. All for Jesus.

    Worldlings prize their gems of beauty,
    Cling to gilded toys of dust;
    Boast of wealth, and fame, and pleasure;
    Only Jesus will I trust.
    All for Jesus! All for Jesus!
    Only Jesus will I trust.
    All for Jesus! All for Jesus!
    Only Jesus will I trust.
