Everyone needs mercy!

Posted on March 3, 2021March 2, 2021 by Norm

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Luke 6:37-42

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“Do not judge, and you will not be judged.” (Luke 6:37)
To judge someone is to say we know who they really are, and what they deserve.
The issue here is not whether there are things that need to be judged.
There is right and wrong, good and evil, and each of us is affected by it somehow.
The issue here is when we think we can pronounce a verdict on someone else.
As if we know their hearts, as if we know everything we need to know to pass judgment.
We have our own flaws and blind spots, who are we to condemn others?
Each of us has a plank in our own eye; and other people’s issues are specks to me.
This does not mean that we cannot discern right from wrong, truth from error.
But at all times we must love, be patient and forgiving, and extend mercy to others.
Just as we need these same things for ourselves.
Murder is wrong, but the murderer needs help, love, grace, mercy.
Not condoning or permitting them but rescuing them and helping them change.
This is what He does with me too… thankfully.
May God measure abundant mercy on us all… and may I do the same.
PRAYER
Lord, forgive us as ‘christians’ for being judgmental and hypocritical. Forgive us for claiming Your mercy for ourselves, but refusing to extend it to others.

“The student is not above the teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like their teacher.” Lord Jesus I want you to be my teacher. Help me to follow you – help me not to judge but let you be the judge – to leave it up to you. At the same time Lord help me to be wise and discerning – that I may be willing to confront the wrong yet have mercy for the person who wrongs me. HS help me see clearly – take the biases/the planks that are in my own eyes. May I see the way you do, Jesus!

As Christ came to serve, and I being His, must also serve others. I need to listen to the Master and rely upon His help to be an instrument of His peace. Always I need to think the best of others. Jesus knows all and sees my faults. Help me daily Lord to see the best of others and share Your love to those around me.

    Make me a servant
    Humble and meek
    Lord let me lift up
    Those who are weak
    And may the prayer
    Of my heart always be
    Make me a servant
    Make me a servant
    Make me a servant today

think about it!

It is not mere words that nourish the soul, but God Himself, and unless and until the hearers find God in personal experience, they are not the better for having heard the truth.
