Treasure the thought…

Posted on January 18, 2021January 17, 2021 by Norm

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Luke 2:15-20

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.” (Luke 2:19)
I am a pondering person, I am often thinking about God, Jesus, faith, etc.
For me these things are too profound to simply pass over or accept.
I’m not so much questioning them, as I am mulling over their meaning.
And like Mary, I am treasuring them, finding delight in them.
If God is in control, what does this mean for me?
If Satan is beaten, and I am free in Christ, what does this mean for me?
If God’s Spirit lives in me, how am I experiencing this reality?
If nothing can separate me from God’s love, how is this shaping my life?
So many thoughts, so many things to ponder and treasure.
This is what I am doing as I journal, pondering and treasuring.
I don’t always find something profound, but over time my faith grows deeper.
We will never plumb the depths of the ocean of treasures we find in Jesus.
But don’t let that stop you from jumping in and letting them surround you.
Ponder and treasure the things you believe, and you will only grow richer!
PRAYER
Lord, in you are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge (Colossians 2:3), may I continue to find new treasures as I ponder who you are!

    “Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart”. I can relate to Mary – as I am also more reflective than reactive person. I tend to think a lot before I speak up or act. Mary had a front row seat – she saw many things first hand. In time it not only confused her but also hurt her too as time went on. She knew who Jesus is – and it probably conflicted in her mind from time to time – to see Jesus being maligned – and not the powerful Messiah as people had hoped. She had to ponder it all – as do we all. It helps to have the outside perspective – to see how salvation came about -and how the final day is approaching. We do good to ponder on these things – trusting that when we do – we learn to trust even more in the God of the past, present and future. Because of Jesus!

    Lord thank you for this reminder that we are not just to enjoy your wonders and good news in a moment, but to ponder and let it dwell. With how much negative we dwell on daily, Lord help us dwell on your deliverance, hope, and good news just as much!

    The shepherds praised God for what they had seen and heard. And how do I praise Him? I too have received the Good News and need to proclaim that Jesus lives. I need to be an instrument of His peace. He came down so that I can be lifted up. In my journey in His SonShine others need to see and hear that Christ Jesus is living in me.

    Living for Jesus a life that is true,
    Striving to please Him in all that I do;
    Yielding allegiance, glad-hearted and free,
    This is the pathway of blessing for me.
    O Jesus, Lord and Savior,
    I give myself to Thee,
    For Thou, in Thy [redemption],*
    Didst give Thyself for me;
    I own no other Master,
    My heart shall be Thy throne,
    My life I give, henceforth to live,
    O Christ, for Thee alone.

think about it!

The secret of a good sermon is to have a good beginning and a good ending, then having the two as close together as possible.
