PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Mark 9:14-29
What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?
“Everything is possible for one who believes.” (Mark 9:23)
Is this ACTUALLY true, can believing make the impossible possible?
It depends in part on who or what we believe in.
If I believe in something evil, I cannot expect good results.
But if we put our hope in a good, all powerful God, there are new possibilities.
It is not ‘belief’ that makes things possible, but ‘belief in God!’
Evil spirits have power in our lives because we believe the thoughts they produce.
Negative, doubtful, hopeless, selfish, jealous, angry thoughts or feelings…
We give more credit to negativity or despair, than to the God of hope.
There is good possibility even in tough times when God is involved.
I am needing to remember this especially in this season of COVID-19.
Jesus is not urging this man to believe in belief, but to believe in him, and God.
Stop letting your fears convince you that they are bigger, better than God.
Trust God, and tell your fears how big your God is.
“I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!” (Mark 9:24)
PRAYER
Lord, no matter how big or scary or hopeless this situation may be, You are always bigger. I choose to trust You. Help me do this more and more.
Believing even when we see no action! It takes faith! I know of people who tell me they cannot pray anymore – they have become so discouraged. So I assure them that I will continue to pray to God for them. Prayer, like Jesus healing – is not magic – it is an exercise of faith. It takes faith to keep praying even when the prayers don’t seem to be answered in the way I would like! Help me Lord, like this man, pray the honest prayer – help me overcome my unbelief! May I trust in you more nearly everyday!
“I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!”
He reigns.
Our God reigns.
He is in charge over all things and I live in His presence also this day going forward in His SonShine. His Spirit continues to lead and guide as I prayerfully go forward on this day serving Him. Today is a gift to continue to serve Him, showing the love of Christ to all I meet. Each day i need to commit to Him. It is by His guidance, His working in me that I can live for Him at all times.
Living for Jesus a life that is true,
Striving to please Him in all that I do;
Yielding allegiance, glad-hearted and free,
This is the pathway of blessing for me.
O Jesus, Lord and Savior,
I give myself to Thee,
For Thou, in Thy [redemption],*
Didst give Thyself for me;
I own no other Master,
My heart shall be Thy throne,
My life I give, henceforth to live,
O Christ, for Thee alone.
