God overcomes my inadequacies

Posted on September 3, 2020September 2, 2020 by Norm

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Mark 6:35-44

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“Looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves.” (Mark 6:41)
Jesus was fully human, like us, he did not keep his God powers in his back pocket.
He did not multiply the bread and fish; he trusted God to do it.
I’m assuming God somehow told him this was going to happen.
His part was to bring to God what he had; God did the rest.
For his part, he thanked God for whatever he had, even though not enough.
As followers of Jesus, we are called to bless the world with what we have.
Every day we have different opportunities to do this in different ways.
And sometimes God may tell us to do something very specific.
‘Talk to that person, help that person, pray for the person’.
Our part is to bring to God what we have, and trust God for the rest.
Instead of complaining… ‘I don’t know what to say, I can’t pray, etc.
Thank God for what you do have – the ability to speak, to help – and do it.
Don’t look to yourself for the power, look up to heaven and trust God.
Thank God for what you have – no matter how small – and let God use it!
PRAYER
Lord, you became like us to show us how we can do great things too. Help me to get past my inadequacies and to look up to God with gratitude for God’s adequacy!

    Sometimes when I look to myself and check my resources – what’s in my pockets or wallet – I am limited. But Jesus reminds us that my little really matters – and we can tap into his unlimited resources! Our little can do so much – even if we don’t see it – but with Jesus’ blessing it will multiply. Lord, help me to look beyond myself – and be willing to give my all as little as it is – to make a difference for the sake of the gospel for everyone.

    Feeding the thousands reminded me also of the manna to His wandering people. He provides – more than enough. Leftovers – to share. God provides and multiplies for the good of others. He has blessed me and I need to share that blessing.

    Guide me, O thou great redeemer,
    Pilgrim through this barren land;
    I am weak, but thou art mighty,
    Hold me with thy powerful hand;
    Bread of heaven, bread of heaven
    Feed me till I want no more;
    Feed me till I want no more.

think about it!

It’s not the size of the dog in the fight, it’s the size of the fight in the dog.
