“I don’t need praise, I got love!”

Posted on November 6, 2014November 6, 2014 by Norm

SCRIPTURE: John 5:41-47
“I do not accept glory from human beings…” (John 5:41)
What does it mean to give glory to someone?
It is to praise, honour, celebrate, or boast about them.
Everyone lives for an audience; we want to feel loved and valued.
We seek love and value, because that is what we lost when we left God.
Without God, we starve for love and value, and do almost anything to get it.
A heart void of the love of God is desperate for love and affirmation.
Jesus challenges these religious leaders – they are void of God’s love.
Therefore, they accept anyone and anything that feeds the void.
That makes them feel better, that serves their cause.
They claim to serve Moses, but their actions show Moses is serving them.
If they truly served Moses, they would be serving and loving God.
And they would see in Jesus that He too was not serving Himself, but God.
Jesus basically says: “I don’t need your praise, I got God’s love!”
Am I serving God, out of the fullness of His love?
Or am I serving myself, out of the the emptiness within my soul?
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, remind me that I do not need to impress anyone to get their approval, because You already love and value me, and Your love excels all others.

    Observation/Application
We say that we believe. And the believe is based on the Bible or our interpretations of the Bible?
Christ is the answer and not man’s theology.
Christ is the answer and not man’s tradition or made up rules such as the religious rulers did then and as we do today. Traditions change. And our believe in those religious traditions will also condemn us. Christ’s Word never changes. He has always been there for His people then and today.
Where do I place my trust?
Like a small child I must shout out – Jesus! Jesus is the answer and I need to go forward in His power always.

    Jesus, all for Jesus
All I am and have and ever hope to be
    Jesus, all for Jesus
All I am and have and ever hope to be

All of my ambitions, hopes and plans
I surrender these into Your hands
All of my ambitions, hopes and plans
I surrender these into Your hands

For it’s only in Your will that I am free
For it’s only in Your will that I am free
    Jesus, all for Jesus
All I am and have and ever hope to be

think about it!

I’m not upset that you lied to me, I’m upset that from now on I can’t believe you.
