Anchor your spirit to God!

Posted on September 7, 2014September 7, 2014 by Norm

SCRIPTURE: Psalm 102
You may not be able to relate to all the details in the psalm.
But you have probably had moments similar to this.
When you feel discouraged or defeated, when there seems to be no hope.
You are tired, drained of physical and emotional energy – you feel like you are withering.
“My days are like the evening shadow; I wither away like grass.” (Psalm 102:11)
In this dark moment, he reminds himself about God.
God is always on the throne, God will have compassion on us, because He loves us.
He is working to restore His creation, and His family; His kingdom will come!
In his moments of despair he focuses on the Lord, and his spirit is lifted.
He anchors his spirit to the unchanging, faithful, loving, almighty God, and he finds strenth.
He sees hope for the future, for himself and for future generations.
“The children of your servants will live in your presence; their descendants will be established before you.” (Psalm 102:28)
So if you are feeling discouraged or defeated, remind yourself about God.
Anchor your spirit to His greatness, and you will find strength.
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, I am presently discouraged. This psalm is a helpful reminder of where I need to focus. You are solid, I can rely on You!

    Observations/Application
    Talks with God. Share all with Him for he knows our ‘frame.’
    Our God is the same – yesterday, today and forevermore. He is our Surety and Confidence and Hope. In all of our suffering , sickness, decaying, dying, – He remains and still is – God. He remains. And because He is, I too shall be with Him always – in this life and the next. All the trials of believers will come to that – because He lives we to are alive forevermore.

    God sent His son, they called Him, Jesus;
    He came to love, heal and forgive;
    He lived and died to buy my pardon,
    An empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives!

    Chorus
    Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
    Because He lives, all fear is gone;
    Because I know He holds the future,
    And life is worth the living,
    Just because He lives!

    How sweet to hold a newborn baby,
    And feel the pride and joy he gives;
    But greater still the calm assurance:
    This child can face uncertain days because He Lives!

    Chorus
    Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
    Because He lives, all fear is gone;
    Because I know He holds the future,
    And life is worth the living,
    Just because He lives!

    And then one day, I’ll cross the river,
    I’ll fight life’s final war with pain;
    And then, as death gives way to vict’ry,
    I’ll see the lights of glory and I’ll know He lives!

    Chorus
    Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
    Because He lives, all fear is gone;
    Because I know He holds the future,
    And life is worth the living,
    Just because He lives!

think about it!

The secret of a good sermon is to have a good beginning and a good ending, then having the two as close together as possible.
