God WILL get you through this!

SCRIPTURE: Psalm 91
According to this song, God helps those who trust in Him and His good ways.
It sounds rather bold, but “If you say, ‘The Lord is my refuge,’ and you make the Most High your dwelling, no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent.” (Psalm 91:9-10)
We need to understand this as ultimate truth; it does not always look this way in day to day life.
Living in this sin-messed world, in the midst of human corruption and misery, God is steering a path of life.
And He asks ‘do you trust Me, will you trust Me?’
Jesus is the perfect example of this: He trusted God, yet He suffered and died… but then rose again.
He called on God, and God eventually answered Him (though after the cross and grave); God was with Him in His trouble, and He delivered Him and honored Him; with long life He satisfied Him and showed Him salvation. (see Psalm 91:15-16).
Satan tries to discourage us when we suffer, but he also attempts to make us abuse God’s promise.
“For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. (Psalm 91:11-12)
These are the exact words that Satan used to trick Jesus into testing God, by jumping off the temple (Luke 4:10-11).
Jesus rebukes Satan; God’s promises are for trusting (even when they don’t seem true), not for testing.
Rest in God – especially when things get tough – and You will eventually see God’s promise come true!
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, I will admit that at times I wonder. It’s hard to believe these bold promises in light of the ugly realities we face. But I will take refuge in You. You got through this with God; We WILL get through this together!

think about it!

A man who as a physical being is always turned toward the outside, thinking that his happiness lies outside him, finally turns inward and discovers that the source is within him.
