PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Matthew 24:9-14
What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?
“Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold.” (Matthew 24:12)
No matter what is going on around us, we need to hang on to love.
As long as we have the option to love, there is hope.
When love grows cold, then hope is lost.
God has shown us through Jesus how love overcomes darkness and evil.
Will I hang on to the love of Jesus or will I lose my faith, hope and love?
We must continue to show and to share God’s kingdom love to the very end.
When things get worse, giving up on love isn’t the answer; it is the worse thing to do.
The world has enough hate and violence, someone has to show the world the better way!
Obviously I cannot do this perfectly… but am I at least trying with his help?
Jesus reminds me that the end will not come until we finish this job.
But he also assures me that he will help me persevere to the very end (Matthew 28:20).
Don’t let the world’s increasing bleakness drive you to despair and defeat.
“Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; Be courageous; be strong.
Do everything in love.” (1 Corinthians 16:13-14)
PRAYER
Lord, there is so much meanness and selfishness, it seems that love is weak. Help me not to make it worse by letting my love grow cold. I want to love with you, like you, for you!
This passage reminds me not to let the ‘news’ of the day or the negative developments cause me to lose hope and despair: “Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold,” As a believer I must continue to have hope and to exude love for others even in the face of all the negativism today. Help me not hold back and just vend for myself – rather help me to be a resource – a source of encouragement!
Love makes the world go around.
Yet in times like these, there is lack of love. People are insisting upon their own way. They do not listen to one another. They are isolating from each other, not even desiring to listen to one another. Yet I need to stand up for Jesus and show the better way – loving God and loving my neighbour. At all times I need to be an instrument of His peace, also this day He has made. All for Jesus. I need to stand in His Light and share His SonShine to all at all times for I am an open book, read by all, living epistle.
Standing on the promises that cannot fail.
When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail,
By the living Word of God I shall prevail,
Standing on the promises of God.
