Just a touch!

Posted on December 12, 2022December 10, 2022 by Norm

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Matthew 9:18-26

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“Come and put your hand on her, and she will live.” (Matthew 9:18)
The synagogue leader had confidence that just a touch from Jesus would do.
The woman subject to bleeding was convinced even touching his cloak would do.
Just a touch from Jesus and everything can change – this is what they believed.
And yet, the Moses Law said touching a dead or bleeding person made you unclean.
Healing did not come by touching… sickness and spiritual impurity did.
The Law was not able to heal, it could only expose the problem.
Our problem is deeper than ‘obeying rules’ can fix, we need the touch of God.
God becomes flesh (incarnation) to touch us physically, become one with us.
God touches sinners, God puts his hand on unholy, stained, impure sinners.
God stretches out his hand to be touched… by physical, deadly nails.
Faith in Jesus today is like reaching out and touching the edge of his cloak.
Opening your life to Jesus is like letting him into your home to restore your life.
The Spirit of Jesus is putting his hand on me, and I feel his life in me.
It starts with spiritual healing, it may bring physical healing; it will end in new life!
PRAYER
Lord, I am still waiting for the full and final healing. But already now I’ve put my hand in yours, and your life is stirring within me. Just a touch… thank you!

    Take my hand Lord Jesus! “he went in and took the girl by the hand, and she got up” My life changed when Jesus came to me – I’m still learning what it means to follow him and I make missteps from time to time. The synagogue leader believed that Jesus could raise is daughter from death – he had faith and Jesus responded to that faith and raised up his daughter. Strengthen my faith day by day – work in me by your spirit I pray! Lead me, guide me along the way!

    Crisis mode.
    Both were in desperate circumstances. But they realized that Jesus was the answer.
    Without the Lord I too am in desperate circumstances. I need Him every hour. Life without Him is not true living. I need His presence every hour. I too need the Master’s touch in my life, trusting in Him alone. I need daily to walk with my Lord.

    1 I need Thee ev’ry hour,
    Most gracious Lord;
    No tender voice like Thine
    Can peace afford.

    Refrain:
    I need Thee, oh, I need Thee;
    Ev’ry hour I need Thee;
    Oh, bless me now, my Savior,
    I come to Thee.

    2 I need Thee ev’ry hour,
    Stay Thou nearby;
    Temptations lose their pow’r
    When Thou art nigh. [Refrain]

    3 I need Thee ev’ry hour,
    In joy or pain;
    Come quickly and abide,
    Or life is vain. [Refrain]

    4 I need Thee ev’ry hour,
    Teach me Thy will;
    And Thy rich promises
    In me fulfill. [Refrain]

think about it!

We don’t serve God to gain His acceptance; we are accepted so we serve God. We don’t follow Him in order to be loved; we are loved so we follow Him.
