God’s love for me… and others!

Posted on November 6, 2022November 5, 2022 by Norm

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Psalm 6

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“Save me because of your unfailing love.” (Psalm 6:4)
Why does the Lord accept David’s prayer (v.9), is it because he is better?
David himself had his moments; Uriah could have prayed this against him.
(The one that David had killed so he can cover for sleeping with his wife).
It is because of God’s unfailing love… and his goal to overcome evil.
The Lord is onside with all victims, and against all forms of evil.
As we see through Jesus, God joins with victims of sin and takes on evil.
But God’s secret weapon – Jesus – is not violence, it is the cross!
It is God’s love that is the power that overcomes evil and restores good.
David experienced this unfailing love, but he didn’t understand how it worked.
The underlying message of Israel’s scripture was God’s unfailing love.
But the people still assumed God was more for them than for others.
God chooses Israel in order to save all people from the grip of sin.
God hears David because God loves all who are in the anguish of sin.
God is not just saving me, but all who are overwhelmed and groaning under sin!
PRAYER
Lord, your unfailing love breaks through the misery of sin – mine and others – to put things right. Save us, all of us, because of your unfailing love, from the grip of sin.

As we think of all the persecuted people in the world today – they are in anguish like David was as he wrote this Psalm. The Lord hears the cries of those in anguish – those who are tormented by persecution: “Away from me, all you who do evil, for the Lord has heard my weeping.” The Lord hears our prayers and He is merciful and compassionate. Help us do our best to help mitigate for the rights of the persecuted – that they may be free from abuse! Help me not become complacent and forget them, Lord, I pray!

    Come to Jesus.
Come to the Rock of your/mine salvation.
Share with Him all concerns – problems, sorrows, joys, struggles – my daily living.
    He hears.
Jesus is the answer for He is the reason for the season, coming to save people from their turmoil, from their sin. Find rest in Him.

    Come to the Savior, all,
    whate’er your burdens be;
    hear now His loving call,
“Cast all your care on me.”
    Come, and for every grief,
    in Jesus you will find
    a sure and safe relief,
    a loving friend and kind.

think about it!

The Body of Christ is simply enjoying communion with Jesus, enjoying community with one another, and moving together as His Spirit leads.
