The only true way to live!

Posted on October 19, 2022October 18, 2022 by Norm

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Matthew 5:1-12

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.” (Matthew 5:5)
These 9 ‘blesseds’ describe a very strange understanding of the blessed life.
But I think this is what Jesus means when he says he is the way, the truth and the life.
This is the true way to live, the only way to experience God’s blessing.
Jesus lives this way himself, and though he suffers and dies, he is blessed by God.
By entering our sin-messed world, our messiah found himself at odds with the world.
But he refused to join the world in its mess, and chose God’s strength instead.
To be meek is not weakness, but to be strong in God without harshness or force.
He chose the servant’s path, the humble way of grace, mercy and peace.
And as a result, God raised him up, and he ‘won’… he inherited all creation.
As Jesus followers we face our own challenges with the mess of life in this world.
The best response is not force, harshness, political power or strength in numbers.
Though it is hard to choose to humbly love and serve, it is how we ‘win’ too.
“Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” (Romans 12:21)
This might seem like a weak way, but it is the Jesus Way, the true way to life!
PRAYER
Lord, help me to see that your Way is how I need to respond to my challenges as well. Help me to resist being harsh or forceful, and to choose humbly serving with you!

All these beautiful blessed statements. “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.” Lord, I do long to be filled and to live in right relationship to you. I see my own ego and pride sometimes getting in the way – I need to be humbled, meek – open to the Lord’s leading. Lord, I want to be your servant in all that I do – help me to serve I pray.

This is God’s way on how to live for Jesus. Certainly different from the leaders of His day who focused on the external rather than the internal. All for Jesus. A child of the King needs to live this way – heartfelt service to the King. True happiness is to serve Him in our daily living for that living will be for today and all of our tomorrows.

Since my eyes were fixed on Jesus,
    I’ve lost sight of all beside;
    so enchained my spirit’s vision,
    looking at the Crucified.

    O what wonder! How amazing!
    Jesus, glorious King of kings,
deigns to call me his beloved,
lets me rest beneath his wings.

think about it!

What does God ask of us? Not that we should be stronger than we are, but that we should confess our weakness and accept His strength.
