Please come… soon!

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Daniel 9-10

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them.” (Daniel 10:12)
First of all, let me make this clear: I do not know what exactly these visions mean.
I have heard theories about the seventy ‘sevens’, and who the man in the vision is.
Some people get specific about the details, connecting them to past or present events.
For me what stands out is Daniel’s humble posture and his plea for grace.
And this is what the man in the vision highlights as well, how he humbles himself.
I personally see this man as a pre-vision of Jesus, YHWH revealed by way of a vision.
I’m reminded of Paul’s vision of Jesus, how he saw it and the others didn’t.
But one difference is that Daniel is humble; Paul needs to be humbled.
But in both cases, the Lord hears and acts to bring hope and salvation.
Jesus ultimately came in response to the desperate pleas for grace and help.
And those humble and eager to learn also experienced Jesus as God’s anointed one.
Our world is still a mess, and so is the church… but I know who’s in charge.
I trust that if we humbly seek him like Daniel, he will come in response to us too!
PRAYER
Lord, right now I feel like Daniel, deeply aware of my flaws and the flaws of the church. I am humbled in weakness, and eagerly seeking your grace. Please come… soon!

  1. “I am overcome with anguish because of the vision, my lord, and I feel very weak.” Daniel is given visions about the future – Daniel feels defeated because the temple is ruined but this vision, which I certainly don’t understand – is meant to reassure him that God is concerned and is in control and will ‘right’ the situation – but still Daniel is in anguish – and so am I when I see the harm that sin is doing in messing up the world today – and how it trips me up too! But I also know that there will be an end to sin one day – yet I must continue to strive to follow Jesus – the anointed one who died but did not stay dead – but lives – the ultimate outcome promised for me as well because I believe!

  2. Standing in His presence.
Each and every day is the Lord’s day and we need to go forward in His presence. I need to talk and walk with my God prayerfully praying for this His world to worship Him. Every day my prayers for healing, restoration need to be brought before the Lord. He hears. May I see His presence also this day for this is my Father’s world. May i be a witness to that fact as live for Jesus.

We are standing on holy ground
And I know that there are angels
    All around
    Let us praise Jesus now
We are standing in his presence
    On holy ground
