PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Psalm 145
What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?
“The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made.” (Psalm 145:9)
All the religions of David’s day saw their god as great and most worthy of praise.
They also claimed that their god was on their side against all there enemies.
But what god was seen as good to ALL, compassionate to everything and everyone?
This song of praise points to all the great things about YHWH, the God of Abraham.
But this quality above all seems to set YHWH apart from all other gods.
The only exception where YHWH’s love and goodness is thwarted is the wicked.
“The Lord watches over all who love him, but all the wicked he will destroy.” (Psalm 145:20)
The ‘wicked’ are not people of other lands or religions, but wicked on all sides.
Those who are not loving, those who are not compassionate, like YHWH.
A God that would love people that love cruelty, hate, injustice would not be good.
YHWH loves all people, but opposes those that hate, hurt and oppress others.
Jesus – YHWH in the flesh – shows us how far this God goes to be good to all.
He suffers and dies, even for the wicked, to win them back to God and his goodness.
Only those who ultimately reject this goodness will miss out on it in the end.
PRAYER
Lord, you cannot bless willful hate or harm. You long for everyone to experience love and goodness. This is what makes you great and good. May people see this in you, and join you in your goodness and love.
“The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made…The Lord watches over all who love him, but all the wicked he will destroy.”
God does love all people – I believe it grieves Him deeply when people reject Him and a go against His will – go their own way and ignore the special relationship God has with mankind. God gave mankind a free will – we can make choices. We can choose to spurn His desire for a relationship with us. We can get the notion in our head that there is no God – that we do not have a divine origin – by a God the Father the creator. We can be ashiest and just live our life today for tomorrow we die – with out a greater purpose – a future that God is preparing us for by living this life. Yet, I believe God wants all to come to Him willingly. Because He is not limited by space/time or confines of thinking – He knows. He knows me and that is something wonderful to know. His HS is a gift to me through Jesus who is also God! He has compassion on me!
Today and every day my mouth needs to speak the praises of the Lord. My words and deeds need to show that I walk with my God every day for He upholds me – leading me in the path to travel, being an instrument of His peace. I need to be faithful to Him in all I do and say. Lead me and guide me Lord.
Verse 1
I am weak and I need Thy strength and power,
To help me over my weakest hour.
Let me through the darkness Thy face to see,
Lead me, oh Lord lead me.
Chorus
Lead me, guide me along the way,
For if you lead me I cannot stray.
Lord, let me walk each day with Thee.
Lead me, oh Lord lead me.
