His plan behind my plans

Posted on July 7, 2022July 6, 2022 by Norm

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Acts 16:6-10

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“Kept by the Holy Spirit from preaching the word in the province of Asia.” (Acts 16:6)
“The Spirit of Jesus would not allow them to.” (Acts 16:7)

Why would the Holy Spirit hold us back from sharing the message of Jesus?
It’s not that he silenced them; he directed them elsewhere, other than Asia.
He had plans for them in Macedonia, so that is where he leads them (Acts 16:10).
I have experienced the Lord stopping me, then leading me somewhere.
In seminary I wanted to do a summer in Charlottetown, but I was not selected.
At that point God had not called me to preach there.
Little did I know that God’s plan was for me to go there after graduation.
I was kept by the Spirit, now allowed by the Spirit of Jesus, for that summer.
But in time, I was called to preach there.
The Lord has his ways, his timing, his plan behind my plans.
This is not just for church leaders; God directs our all our lives for a purpose.
He guides us places and circumstances where he can use us to share his love.
Where is the Spirit leading you, where has the Lord called you?
PRAYER
Lord, I trust that I am where I am right now for a reason. I am here for your purpose, to share you and your love with this community. I will do so until you direct me elsewhere.

“but the Spirit of Jesus would not allow them to.” I had this happen to me- and I’ve learned that it is important not to go on ‘your own’ but to pray first – and yes the HS will sometimes stop you – it’s happened to me. Lord, I want to do you will and seek to do what you would have me do. Thank you for the gift of your spirit – continue to lead us in our lives each day as we travel down life’s journey!

    Thy will be done.
He continues to lead me and guide me in the way I need to go to serve Him. Covid has closed certain doors to serve globally but other doors have opened to serve Him locally. In all things I need to follow His leading, His guiding hand. SpiritLed.

Lead me, guide me along the way
For if you lead me I cannot stray
Or just open my eyes that I may see
Lead me oh lord, won’t you lead me
I am lost if you take your hand from me
I am blind without thy light to see
Lord just always let me thy servant be
Lead me oh lord, won’t you lead me
Lead me, guide me along the way
For if you lead me I cannot stray

think about it!

The first question which the priest and the Levite asked was: “If I stop to help this man, what will happen to me?” But… the good Samaritan reversed the question: “If I do not stop to help this man, what will happen to him?”
