A good news bringer!

Posted on March 5, 2022March 4, 2022 by Norm

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Isaiah 61-62

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“The Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news!” (Isaiah 61:1)
These two chapters express good news, and Isaiah is the good news bringer.
He promises that The Lord will come to restore people, and give them a new name.
In all of these word picture I see Jesus, coming with hope for all people.
He is “good news that will cause great joy for all the people.” (Luke 2:10)
Jesus quotes these words at the beginning of his work (Luke 4:16-21).
He says that through him the words of Isaiah are fulfilled!
In other words, not only is he anointed to announce good news, but to accomplish it.
He shows up (Isaiah 62:11) to bring hope to the hopeless, healing for the sick.
Strength for the weak, freedom for those in chains, comfort for the despairing.
It is this good news that draws me to Jesus, and makes me want to talk about him.
We are anointed to let people know about Jesus, to bring good news to them too.
Our world desperately needs good news, and Jesus is what our world needs.
Sadly our world has not always heard ‘good news’ from the Lord’s messengers.
I want to be a good news bringer, to help people find love, joy and peace in Jesus.
PRAYER
Lord, you have anointed me to be and to bring good news too, especially to those who are struggling or despairing. Help me to be a good-news bringer like this!

    They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor…They will be called the Holy People, the Redeemed of the Lord;” How blessed are we if the Lord delights in us. He doesn’t delight in us because of what we have done – our sins betrayed us – but because of who we are in Jesus – made righteous and striving to be righteous – to do right, to seek justice, to help the poor – to be the kind of person Jesus wants me to be – led by the Spirit. Lord, help me I pray to be more like you! That I may be a delight to my neighbours and all that I meet! Truly help me to be a good news bringer!!

    The Lord God is with His people as He has promised. He is faithful as He promised. His people are to be the Light of the world since they are walking in His Light. LightShine. I need to be an instrument of His peace. My words and deeds need to show that Light. Each day anew I need to call upon His name, dress myself in His armour so that I am able to produce the fruit He desires and all can see that I am whose I am by my love.

    The whole world was lost in the darkness of sin,
    The Light of the world is Jesus!
    Like sunshine at noonday, His glory shone in;
    The Light of the world is Jesus!

    Refrain:
    Come to the light, ’tis shining for thee;
    Sweetly the light has dawned upon me;
    Once I was blind, but now I can see:
    The Light of the world is Jesus!

think about it!

And people who do not know the Lord ask why in the world we waste our lives as missionaries. They forget that they too are expending their lives… and when the bubble has burst they will have nothing of eternal significance to show for the years they have wasted.
