PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Psalm 119:97-120
What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?
“Oh, how I love your law! I meditate on it all day long.” (Psalm 119:97)
When I spend time with the Lord reading the bible, I usually hear his Voice.
Through the stories or teachings, something connects with me personally.
An insight into who God is, who I am, why I am here, where I am going astray.
Often it doesn’t come right away, I need to spend time with it.
But as I spend time with the Lord in the passage, he speaks.
Not a voice, but insight, understanding, awareness, wisdom.
“Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” (Psalm 119:105)
I love those moments when the light goes on.
It’s an inner ‘Aha’ moment, when pieces start to come together in my mind.
Rarely is it just information about something, it’s usually transformative.
Something that I need to change, or that changes how I view and live life.
It’s like a flashlight, giving me just enough light in an otherwise dark world.
Just enough light for me to know what steps I need to take today.
“My heart is set on keeping your decrees to the very end.” (Psalm 119:112)
PRAYER
Lord, thank you for the way you give me insight for living. Thank you for speaking to me as I read the bible. Thank you for the light you give me every day.
“I gain understanding from your precepts…Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path…I hate double-minded people, but I love your law.”
God’s laws are foundational – they set the parameters that I live by that will keep me in sync with created design – they light the way and set the boundaries of my way – without it I would be fickle or double-minded – not sure of where I should go or how I should behave or respond – especially in difficult situations. Jesus sent the HS so that God’s ways would be in my mind – written on my heart -they provide light for my path. Therefore, like the Psalmist, – I too appreciate God’s law – Lord Jesus, help me to be more like you! Meditating on God’s word leads me, guides me, enlightens me!
Thy Word is a lamp to my feet. The Word is my Guide for it tells me how to live. Do this and live – that’s what the Master said. Live and do this. And the only way to do this is to walk daily with the King. Asking always, Is this my Master’s will in my living for Jesus. I need to keep walking in His SonShine every day and that is only a possibility when I walk with my Lord in the Light of His Word.
