Do I want to be a part of this?

Posted on January 19, 2022January 18, 2022 by Norm

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: John 13:1-17

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“Unless I wash you, you have no part with me.” (John 13:8)
Jesus shows us what God’s love is like, how it washes over us.
Foot washing is not a religious ritual for us to do in church.
It was a common servant job, something no one would prefer to do.
Like doing the dishes, cleaning the toilets, taking out the garbage.
Jesus loved his disciples, and he loves all people, and wants to help us all.
He also wants us to join him in loving others, humbly serving and helping.
“Now that I have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet.” (John 13:14)
Being a Jesus follower is more than being saved, it is loving others with Jesus.
His love will lead to serving others, and to being blessed by God!
Selfless, other serving loves seems to be the key indicator of a Jesus follower.
Not right doctrines or church traditions, but being humbly loved and loving.
If we do not let Jesus love us, we have no part with him.
If we do not join Jesus in his love, we have no part with him.
Do I want to have a part with Jesus’s kind of love?
PRAYER
Lord, something in me still resists this kind of humble love. Wash me of the remnants of self and pride, that I may see and serve others as you do!

Lord thank you for showing us the way by example, that if you washed the feet of the disciples, then who are we to refuse? No servant is greater than the master, “now that I have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet”.

I’m sure many have heard it said that “Love” is an action word. True love is expressed in action that activates the love of the person loving another. Jesus loved deeply and he acted deeply. I too desire to follow his example. Jesus challenges me: “I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.” When I consider what Jesus did for me – how can I not act? Help me Lord to love others as you did – to act on that love and to serve!

think about it!

An error does not become truth by reason of multiplied propagation, nor does truth become error because nobody sees it. Truth stands, even if there be no public support. It is self sustained.
