Another day for sharing grace!

Posted on July 27, 2021July 26, 2021 by Norm

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Luke 19:11-27

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“Put this money to work,’ he said, ‘until I come back.” (Luke 19:26)
This parable is meant to explain why the kingdom does not appear at once (v.11).
Jesus is the man of noble birth, going away to be appointed king.
The disciples are the ten servants asked to put his money to work.
The point in this parable is not the literal details in it.
Jesus uses a true story (Herod Archelaus goes to Rome in 4 BC) to make his point.
Archelaus was a hard man; the Jews hated him, and he killed many of them.
In stark contrast, Jesus is a good king and he isn’t cruel to people.
His kingdom is about multiplying people, not just money.
He sends his servants to bless people, not to get riches and power.
Why would we resist a king like this, why wouldn’t we work for him?
Until Jesus comes back our job is to bless people with his blessings.
Sharing love, joy, peace, etc. with others, this is Jesus’s currency.
I am a servant of the king of grace, I am blessed to multiply his blessing!
Today is another day for sharing grace until the king of grace returns!
PRAYER
Lord, thank you that you are not a hard man, but a gracious man. And thank you for another day for sharing your grace with others, so that it may be multiplied.

    ‘because he was near Jerusalem and the people thought that the kingdom of God was going to appear at once’. So the people thought – Jesus’ kingdom is coming immediately – the parable teaches otherwise and says to me – its not time to sit and wait and do nothing – but rather time to be engaged – utilizing whatever the Lord has entrusted to me – not for my comfort but for the kingdom! If I am engaged in other activities – they may be a lot like those who did not want Jesus to be king over them – they wanted their own way – and so they are lost. Doing nothing or just spinning wheels in activity for myself – gets me nowhere- investing in kingdom work wherever I work as a Jesus follower is the way to purposeful living now. Help me to be a blessing to others because of the Kingdom!

    Lord help us be good stewards of the talents and skills you’ve given us, and to make more disciples through whatever those gifts are. Thank you for your blessings

    Your kingdom comes.
    God has given His people talents/gifts to be used in His service. Each day anew I need to use those gifts serving Him and others for good – to be a blessing for His glory and His Kingdom. I am not my own but belong to Him serving Him in His kingdom.

    All for Jesus! All for Jesus!
    All my being’s ransomed pow’rs;
    All my thoughts and words and doings,
    All my days and all my hours.
    All for Jesus! All for Jesus!
    All my days and all my hours.
    All for Jesus! All for Jesus!
    All my days and all my hours.
    2
    Let my hands perform His bidding;
    Let my feet run in His ways;
    Let mine eyes see Jesus only;
    Let my lips speak forth His praise.
    All for Jesus! All for Jesus!
    Let my lips speak forth His praise.
    All for Jesus! All for Jesus!
    Let my lips speak forth His praise.

think about it!

A man who as a physical being is always turned toward the outside, thinking that his happiness lies outside him, finally turns inward and discovers that the source is within him.
