To cast my lot with Jesus!

Posted on July 2, 2021July 1, 2021 by Norm

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Esther 9-10

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“Haman cast (the lot) for their ruin and destruction.” (Esther 9:24)
In the past, the lot was used to determine the will of the gods.
This is similar to drawing straws, or tossing coins (heads you win).
On the one hand, this reflects how we were designed.
To include God in our decision-making!
But as humans turned from God, they turned from doing God’s will.
Instead of doing what God wanted, we usually do what we want.
Haman did not cast the lot to decide whether to kill the Jews.
He was using the will of the gods to justify and support his will.
This makes me ponder how I make my decisions, and whose will I seek?
Jesus knew God’s will, and did it even if it meant suffering and death.
He entrusted his whole life to God, and God directed the outcome for him.
Jesus casts his lot for our benefit and blessing, not our ruin and destruction.
And God uses his life, death and resurrection for our salvation!
The Lord has ‘cast his lot with me’, am I ‘casting my lot with him’?
PRAYER
Lord, thank you for your good will for me, and how you are doing everything to help and heal me. I cast my lot with you!

When we pray – we ask God to turn things around – whether to heal or to grant success in an application or to provide a way or for protection – whatever – like the ‘pur’ or lot – was changed for the Jews in the time of Xerxes – so God changes things – sometimes in ways when we reflect on them later – are amazing and a reason for celebration and thanks! It is important to remember and reflect on those times – God worked then, works now and will in the future – for the good of those who love him and desire to serve him. Lord Jesus continue to guide with your spirit and may I see those moments and celebrate them! May my ‘lot’ in life be with you!

Speaking peace. Seeking the welfare of the people. This is doing the will of the Lord. Love God. Love man. His will be done. All for Jesus. Mordecai did the will of the Lord and not his own even when all seemed to go against him. He did what was right inspite of the opposition. Living for Jesus.

    Jesus, all for Jesus
All I am and have and ever hope to be
    Jesus, all for Jesus
All I am and have and ever hope to be

All of my ambitions, hopes and plans
I surrender these into your hands
All of my ambitions, hopes and plans
I surrender these into your hands

For it’s only in your will that I am free
For it’s only in your will that I am free
    Jesus, all for Jesus
All I am and have and ever hope to be
