What’s nesting in your hair?

Posted on March 21, 2021March 20, 2021 by Norm

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Psalm 77

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember…” (Psalm 77:11)
Asaph was struggling through something terrible.
He was desperate for help, yet his mind was plagued by doubts.
Satan loves to torment us in tough times, adding his lies to the mix.
The mind becomes a battleground, one that can be overwhelming.
But Asaph makes a decision (v.10), he chooses to remember.
He forces his mind to meditate how God has helped in the past.
What do you dwell on when you are going through a difficult time?
When Satan inserts his poisonous thoughts, do you help by adding your own?
Or do you resist the devil like Jesus)by scattering the lies with truth (Matthew 4:1-11)?
‘You can’t stop the birds of sorrow from landing on your head…
But you can stop them from building a nest in your hair.’
I know how negative thoughts come whether I want them or not.
But I can choose whether I will let them take root in my hair.
“I will consider and meditate on all your mighty deeds.” (Psalm 77:12)
PRAYER
Lord, my mind is a battleground. Help me not to stand idly by while Satan lobs his doubt and despair bombs at me. Help me to set my mind on you, and to let thoughts of you build a nest in my hair!

The Psalmist writes: “I will appeal” – when he/she recalls how God came to save His people. Though we don’t understand why sometimes God waits (probably for our training) – still God does care and He does consider our requests. Lord, help me to be patient. I see people suffering – when I have it good. I must do what I can to address the suffering – pray and support efforts that respond. Bless the work of agencies both Christian and non-Christian to respond to the needs of those suffering. Help me not become ‘cool’ and complacent – but convicted to do what I can! God does care and therefore so should we/I!

At all times I will serve the living God. In times of joy I will call upon Him. In times of sorrow I will call upon Him. At all times I need to remember the faithfulness of God. He continues to lead me and at all times I must follow His leading.

    Verse 1:
I AM WEAK AND I NEED THY STRENGTH AND POWER
TO HELP ME O-VER MY WEAKEST HOUR
LEAD ME THROUGH THE DARKNESS THY FACE TO SEE
LEAD ME OH LORD LEAD ME

    Chorus
Lead me, guide me along the way,
For if you lead me I cannot stray.
Lord let me walk each day with Thee.
Lead me, oh Lord lead me.

    VERSE 2:
Help me tread in the paths of righteousness.
Be my aid when Satan and sin oppress.
I am putting all my trust in Thee:
Lead me, oh Lord lead me.
