Rest In (His) Peace

Posted on January 20, 2021January 20, 2021 by Norm

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Luke 2:25-32

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“Now let me, your servant, go in peace.” (Luke 2:29)
St. Augustine once said, ‘Our hearts find no rest until they rest in God!’
Like Simeon, we are rest-less until we experience God’s love through Jesus.
The Holy Spirit is at work in us too, prompting us to look for God and Jesus.
It seems to me that we all look for this kind of peace, but in the wrong places…
Only God and Jesus can put the heart at rest to give us deep down security and peace.
Jesus is for all people – Jews, non Jews, Christians, Muslims, Atheists… he is king over all!
He comes to us, and the Spirit prompts us towards him, he is what our heart is looking for.
And when we finally experience God’s love through Jesus, we find deep down peace.
We can R.I.P. while we live, and we can R.I.P. when we die.
For not only are we holding Jesus in our hearts, He is holding us in His!
We belong, body and soul, in life and in death, to our faithful Saviour Jesus Christ!
I sense the Lord asking me, am I resting peace since I have met him?
Are people sensing his peace in me, because I know to whom I belong?
PRAYER
Lord, I want to experience this peace deep down inside, a peace that assures me that – whether I live or die – I am secure in Your love.

    Lord what does it mean to live only to see your glory? That we must put away all of the desires of our hearts and leave them to you to give as you see fit. Lord help us not be blinded by our desires and thank you for outweighing them in our lives!

    “For my eyes have seen your salvation, which you have prepared in the sight of all nations” – Simeon is blessed to see – he sees Jesus! With eyes of faith do we, do I see Jesus? For Simeon Jesus was just a little baby – yet he saw Jesus as the Messiah – the redeemer of mankind. When I see beautiful natural vistas or the vast starry sky – do I see the handiwork of the creator When I read the accounts of Jesus by the apostles do I see Jesus? Lord I do and want to see you even more. May others also see Jesus in me as I live and move – as I connect and share – help me to do so faithfully and humbly!

    Waiting upon the Lord and His promises. Simeon had patience and he was also in tune – a man of integrity – righteous and devout and filled with the Spirit. And he was standing on the promises of God.. He was Spirit driven. In tune. God’s timing. And then ready to die. All for Jesus.

    All for Jesus! All for Jesus!
    All my being’s ransomed pow’rs;
    All my thoughts and words and doings,
    All my days and all my hours.
    All for Jesus! All for Jesus!
    All my days and all my hours.
    All for Jesus! All for Jesus!
    All my days and all my hours.
    2
    Let my hands perform His bidding;
    Let my feet run in His ways;
    Let mine eyes see Jesus only;
    Let my lips speak forth His praise.
    All for Jesus! All for Jesus!
    Let my lips speak forth His praise.
    All for Jesus! All for Jesus!
    Let my lips speak forth His praise.
