Breathe in me, breath of God!

Posted on December 16, 2020December 15, 2020 by Norm

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Mark 15:33-37

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“With a loud cry, Jesus breathed his last.” (Mark 15:37)
These words make me think when God first created humans.
“God breathed into his nostrils the breath of life.” (Genesis 2:7)
Right now I am breathing the breath of God, the breath of life.
I do this every day, and take it for granted that I’m still breathing.
I’ve also been with a few who breathed their last breath, it was eerie.
How much more eerie when Jesus breathed his last breath with a loud cry.
As I imagine it, I get the shivers.
Jesus, the incarnation of God, fully surrenders what was rightfully his.
He empties himself of divinity, including the Breath of Life (Philippians 2:6-8).
Today’s reading is humbling, yet inspiring (in-breathing) for me.
As a Jesus follower, I see in this moment the heartbeat of God.
God’s sacrifice for me reveals the depth of love, and the meaning of life.
The breath of God made me to live in love like this, like God!
To devote my breath in loving God by inspiring (in-breathing) others with love!
PRAYER
Lord, every breath I take I take in you. May my life reflect the huge gift that it is, and be used to extend life to others.

    Jesus’ last gasp is a question and that question should stop us in our tracks and make us think. Why does God forsake anyone? It is sin and evil that is rebellion that separates us from God. All through his ministry Jesus stayed close to the Father – praying and connecting regularly – God enabling him to heal and to teach. Now at the pinnacle of the mission – God leaves Jesus alone to bear the brunt of the full separation – the cry is real and it confirms that Jesus went all the way – so that we don’t. I need to ask the question too – why would God abandon me? Rejecting God – the Father, Son and spirit – rejecting the work of the HS – is abandoning God! Hallelujah what a Saviour! Jesus holds me and does not abandon me. He is with the Father now and sent me the HS to comfort and guide me – I need not be alone!

    Darkness.
    Forsaken.
    The people were living in darkness until Jesus Christ came along. He is the Light of the world. And once again we see that without Christ, life is darkness. He not only is the Light but also life giving for H willingly did what His father asked. And I too need to willingly live my life for Him.

    he whole world was lost in the darkness of sin,
    The Light of the world is Jesus!
    Like sunshine at noonday, His glory shone in;
    The Light of the world is Jesus!

    Refrain:
    Come to the light, ’tis shining for thee;
    Sweetly the light has dawned upon me;
    Once I was blind, but now I can see:
    The Light of the world is Jesus!

think about it!

If you read history you will find out that the Christians who did most for the present world were precisely those who thought most of the next.
