May the Spirit convince you!

Posted on September 24, 2020September 23, 2020 by Norm

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Mark 8:27-30

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“‘Who do you say I am?’ Peter answered, ‘You are the Messiah.’” (Mark 8:29)
God had promised for centuries that a Messiah (Lord , Saviour) would come.
I can say that for myself, Jesus is my Lord and Saviour.
He is my constant Friend, Guide, Leader, Helper, in very real, very practical ways.
For myself, this is so real, yet I meet people – even Christians – who don’t find this.
I try to explain it to them, so they can rely on Jesus through their struggles.
But they look at me funny, or say ‘it’ doesn’t work for them, or smile and say little.
It is dawning on me again that I cannot say it for others, only for myself.
And just as Peter’s response was based on his experience…
And my response is based on my experience…
I have to pray that Jesus would give these others an experience of Himself.
Until God reveals Jesus to their heart, I cannot do it.
I thank the Lord that He has revealed Himself to me.
As a Jesus follower, it is not my job to convince you… only to confess to you.
To answer Jesus’ question for myself, and pray that His Spirit will convince them.
PRAYER
Lord, I want others to know You as Friend, Guide, Leader and Helper in very real, personal way. May Your Spirit convince others through me.

Jesus asked “who do people say I am?” And he asked his disciples as well. Makes me wonder who do people say I am? Am I known as a follower of Jesus? Is it convincing? The disciples were said that Jesus was the Messiah – but at times it did not seem like they believed it. I am the same way – I’m a Jesus follower but sometimes I am far from that! Help me HS to be more and more like Jesus – so that I might be radiant and expressive of the love Jesus has for people!

Lord thank you for making it personal! Thank you for reminding me to focus first on what I believe and value before advising others on theirs. Help me remember I’m still on a journey and help me not be distracted!

    Who is Jesus for me?
He is the Christ, the living God who saved His own – my Saviour and Lord, my King who I serve each day, willingly serving Him. He continues to lead and guide me in the way I should go by His Spirit.

I am weak and I need Thy strength and power,
To help me over my weakest hour.
Let me through the darkness Thy face to see,
Lead me, oh Lord lead me.

    Chorus
Lead me, guide me along the way,
For if you lead me I cannot stray.
Lord, let me walk each day with Thee.
Lead me, oh Lord lead me.

    Verse 2
Help me tread in the paths of righteousness.
Be my aid when Satan and sin oppress.
I am putting all my trust in Thee:
Lead me, oh Lord lead me.

    Verse 3
I am lost if you take your hand from me,
I am blind without Thy light to see.
Lord just always let me thy servant be,
Lead me, oh Lord lead me.

think about it!

The Body of Christ is simply enjoying communion with Jesus, enjoying community with one another, and moving together as His Spirit leads.
