The greatest miracle of all!

Posted on August 17, 2020August 11, 2020 by Norm

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Mark 4:35-43

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“‘Quiet! Be still!’ Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.” (Mark 4:39)
This is one of those stories that people dismiss as ancient ‘fake news’.
I get it, this (and the other miracle stories) are unbelievable.
How many other religions and holy books claim miracles, and are they true to?
How can a reasonable, educated and modern person like myself accept these stories?
As for miracles, my understanding of God makes them possible.
I can’t prove these happened, but I have no doubt in God’s power to do them.
The same with all the miracles found in other religions and holy books.
It is not the miracles that draw or convince me… but Jesus.
I am drawn to Jesus by His life and message, not by His miracles.
His life and message are miraculous to me, and the kind of life I long for and need.
I need help, I need forgiveness, I need love, joy, peace, meaning and purpose.
Jesus gives me these things, and they calm the storm in my heart and life.
Because the message is so convicting and compelling, the miracles are superfluous.
I accept them because I accept Jesus, and the miracle of His life and love.
PRAYER
Lord, thank You for calming my storm, and giving me love, joy and peace. This miracle is greater than all the others.

Calm inside a storm. My life’s ride may be rocky – but with Jesus in my boat I need not fear- but I know at times I do get anxious. I need to ‘wake up’ to the fact that Jesus is with me – he will not let me sink. He may teach me and allow me to struggle – so that I learn to trust him more and more. I need not despair no matter what the circumstances – Jesus is a the calm inside the storm – and he has the authority over it and helps me to sail through it.

    Fear.
    Faith.
The disciples feared for their lives even though Jesus was with them. They were asleep to Jesus even though He was there in their hour of need. Jesus is ever present to us/to me. I all the storms of life I need to remember His words – Fear not. It is I. Do not be afraid. I need to realize His presence is with me always.

Rejoice in the Lord always and again I say
    Again I say Rejoice
Rejoice in the Lord always and again I say
    Again I say Rejoice
    Come bless the Lord
    Come bless the Lord
Draw near to worship Christ, the Lord
    And bless His name
His holy name, declaring He is good
Oh, that men would praise Him
Oh, that men would praise Him
Rejoice in the Lord always and again
I say again, I say Rejoice

think about it!

We often refuse to accept an idea merely because the tone of voice in which it has been expressed is unsympathetic to us.
