Mustard seeds like me

Posted on March 4, 2020March 3, 2020 by Norm

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Matthew 17:14-21

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“Because you have so little faith.” (Matthew 17:20)
I have a confession to make… my faith is not very strong.
If all we need to move mountains is mustard seed faith, then my faith is a quark (look it up).
This is not something I am proud of, but I don’t want to deny it either.
I’ve had people rebuke me for it, reminding me I can’t please God without faith (Hebrews 11:6).
But I never said I had NO faith, just that I had a really really small faith.
In this instance, the disciples couldn’t do what they did before (heal someone).
Their problem was “because you have so little faith!”, and this makes me feel a little better.
They were WITH Jesus, watched Him do great miracles, and even did some themselves.
Their faith was still little… and yet He worked with them.
To all who like me admit their faith has a long way to grow, take heart!
Even with my tiny mustard seed faith, I can do impossible things with God.
I will fail, I will miss opportunities, but He keeps working with me to the end!
Because in the end, my hope is not in the size of my faith, but in the size of my God.
Little faith plus big God equals immeasurably more than all I ask or imagine!
PRAYER
Lord, I say it not because I always believe it, but because You said it: Nothing will be impossible for me, when my little faith is supported by Your great love!

I’m reminded that I need to grow in my faith. I’m reminded that I serve a God through whom a little faith’s enough to make mountains life and move.

Lord Jesus thank you for your promise that you will never leave me nor forsake me. Forgive my sins of omissions. My faith is small but you are BIG! Help me to never forget that when you’ll ask me to do something, I can say to the ‘mountain’ be moved! And it will.

To have faith and to grow in faith! I like the prayer of the person who came to Jesus and said, “I believe, help me to overcome unbelief!” Or lack of faith. I trust but sometimes I waver and don’t step out. Do I have the confidence of faith to pray the prayer that brings healing – whether spiritual or physical? I need to overcome lack of faith through the Spirit working in me – to face with confidence and ask – the answer is not mine but the query is! Ask and you will receive is the promise. O Lord help grow my weak faith!

Lord Jesus, forgive me for my little faith. Grow it in me, I pray.

think about it!

God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our conscience, but shouts in our pains: it is His megaphone to rouse a deaf world.
