Crowned with glory

Posted on March 2, 2020February 29, 2020 by Norm

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Matthew 17:1-8

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.” (Matthew 17:5)
A great prince falls from his horse into mud; the horse bolts, leaving him stranded.
Mud-covered, limping, he is unrecognizable to the people he meets.
He explains who he is and what he can do for them, but they don’t listen.
They treat him as an ordinary serf, until the King finds him: ‘this is my son!’
God created us to be like Him, crowned with glory and honor (Hebrews 2:17).
But we’ve jumped into mud, and this world has become a stinking bog of immorality.
Jesus steps in as a human, just like us, and is covered by the muck of our sin.
In this story, for a brief moment, we see Jesus in His glorious humanity.
We not only see Jesus’s glory, we see the glory we were made for!
One day we will shine with His glory – crowned with glory over God’s creation.
THIS is how God sees us too, as we stand with Jesus: ‘this is my son, my daughter!’
The muck of sin remains, but God sees through the mud to the forgiven child within.
This story reminds me to see the glory of God hidden behind the mud in their lives.
To not see people from a worldly point of view, but as a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:16-17).
PRAYER
Lord, in Your glory and goodness I see myself in a new way. Thank You for giving me a glimpse of Who You are, and who You are cleansing and restoring me to be. Help me to see others this way too!

Often when it comes to ‘glory’ moments – I wish they would last longer! What an encouragement they are – when I feel so close to God! Yet, like for Jesus, they serve to prepare me for the challenges ahead. Thank you Lord for recording this in your word – it says so much about you God as Father – and about the future with you when you make all things new!

Father God, thank you for Your Son, Jesus, with whom You are well pleased. Help me to listen to Him and not to fear.

O Lord God almighty I could never please You apart from Jesus Christ your Son in whom you are well pleased. Thank you Jesus that through the Holy Spirt you are with me in me and for me. Help me to demonstrate your presence in me and to seize this day honoring You by listening to You and honoring others as your daughter.

think about it!

The dark night of the soul comes just before revelation. When everything is lost, and all seems darkness, then comes the new life and all that is needed.
