He is still in charge!

Posted on June 22, 2009June 22, 2009 by Norm

SCRIPTURE: Psalm 11/Psalm 12
OBSERVATION/APPLICATION:
For the LORD is righteous, he loves justice; upright men will see his face. [Psalm 11:7] God is just, He will bring about justice. But sometimes this is hard to believe when things look so bleak. When society’s foundations are being dismantled, when there seem so few people concerned about justice and truth and morality. When the boastful prosper and the humble are stepped on. They cry out for help, but will they hear back from Him? Will they see His face?

First, we must accept the fact that in this time between Jesus first and last coming, things will not necessarily look as if Jesus is on the throne. In Psalm 11 David affirms that God is on the throne by faith, because what he sees seems opposite to that. In fact, In Psalm 12 everything is falling apart. Second, by faith we cling to the truth of His sovereignty, despite what we see. David he keeps on praying, he keeps on believing. He trusts the word (promise) of God as flawless (perfectly reliable). Like the woman in Jesus’ parable, he does not give up [Luke 18:1-8]. Jesus says, And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth? [Luke 18:7-8]

Will Jesus find this kind of faith (confidence) in me when He comes back? Do I live and act as if He is in charge, and His kingdom is the one that counts? Am I standing up for justice – trusting that the Lord will be just and fair and good towards all people, as well as being just and fair and good to all? Do I live as if Jesus is not the master of the universe, and of my life?

To the abused, neglected, mistreated, starved, falsely accused, oppressed, God’s promise (flawless word) is that He loves justice, they will see His face, He will bring about justice for His chosen ones, who cry out to Him day and night. When and how is His sovereign prerogative, but he will!

To everyone, this is as much a call to promote justice as it is to await justice. The Lord loves the righteous (or the just), the upright (i.e. those who do what is right). I need to carefully consider my own ways. Am I fair, honest, compassionate, generous, forgiving… in other words, righteous? Will the Lord find me committed to Him by faith and practice when He returns?

PRAYER:
Lord, thank You for being just, reliable, forgiving. I desire to be the same!

    What does the Lord my God require of me? To love righteousness, to exercise mercy and to walk humbly with my Lord and God in all what I do. He is always there! He is ever present! He sees all! I need not fear. Only believe. Do this and live! That’s what the Master says. His words are like the refiner’s fire – always true, always right, always encouraging, always hopeful, always directive.

    Thank You Lord for being my safe place – my Refuge, my Protector, my All in All.

    To God be the glory, great things He has done;
    So loved He the world that He gave us His Son,
    Who yielded His life an atonement for sin,
    And opened the life gate that all may go in.
    Refrain

    Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
    Let the earth hear His voice!
    Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
    Let the people rejoice!
    O come to the Father, through Jesus the Son,
    And give Him the glory, great things He has done.

    O perfect redemption, the purchase of blood,
    To every believer the promise of God;
    The vilest offender who truly believes,
    That moment from Jesus a pardon receives.

    Refrain

    Great things He has taught us, great things He has done,
    And great our rejoicing through Jesus the Son;
    But purer, and higher, and greater will be
    Our wonder, our transport, when Jesus we see.

think about it!

Sometimes I lie awake at night, and I ask, ‘Where have I gone wrong?’ Then a voice says to me, ‘This is going to take more than one night.’
