What did I do for Jesus today?

Posted on August 30, 2019August 29, 2019 by Norm

THE STORY OF JESUS: Proverbs 19
“If you help the poor, you are lending to the Lord — and he will repay you!” (Proverbs 19:17)
The people around me are a reflection of God, His image-bearers (James 3:9-10).
How we treat people is how we treat the Lord, by extension.
“Whatever you did for one of the least of these, you did for me.” (Matthew 25:40)
It is disturbing to think this way… that God has been raped, tortured, spit on, taken advantage of, mocked, robbed, abused physically, sexually and emotionally.
The opposite is also true, every kind word and deed to others is done to Him as well.
He feels every injury, He delights in every gift.
Jesus saw the image of God in every person He interacted with.
He treated each person as a person that mattered, even when no one else did.
I am restored by Jesus as God’s child because I mattered to Him.
As a Jesus follower, I am called to live the same way as Jesus did.
To see people as God’s much-loved children, especially those in need or suffering.
As a Jesus follower, I have a calling to do something, even when I can’t do everything.
When I see Him today in others, will I open my heart and hands to Jesus in them?
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, forgive me for forgetting that You are present in EVERY person I meet; may I treat You with the same love I need and expect from You.

‘Many are the plans in a person’s heart,
but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.’- Proverbs 19:21

In the Lords prayer I pray, ‘Thy will be done’.
My heart must be in tune with His will and so I need to start each day with Him
for today like every other day is the Lord’s day for He created also this day
and has also given me life for this day.
    All for Jesus.
And so throughout the day, my plans, my doings, must align themselves in God’s way.
I need to Stop. Look. Listen. How is my God a part of what I am doing?
‘Whoever keeps commandments keeps their life’
for life is a gift of God.
    Serve Him in all things.
Others need to see Christ Jesus living in me.

    Jesus, all for Jesus
All I am and have and ever hope to be
    Jesus, all for Jesus
All I am and have and ever hope to be
All of my ambitions, hopes and plans
I surrender these into your hands
All of my ambitions, hopes and plans
I surrender these into your hands
For it’s only in your will that I am free
For it’s only in your will that I am free
    Jesus, all for Jesus
All I am and have and ever hope to be

think about it!

In continuing the practice of conversing with God throughout each day and quickly seeking His forgiveness when I fell or strayed, His presence has become as easy and natural to me now as it once was difficult to attain.
