Praise God on the night shift!

THE STORY OF JESUS: Psalm 134
“Servants who minister by night in the house of the Lord!” (Psalm 134:1)
This psalm urges the priests not to stop working in the night shift.
When no one is around, or no one is looking, or things are dark and scary.
In those times too, praise the Lord and anticipate His blessing.
The night shift can represent those times when it’s easy to put our faith on hold.
Either because the rest of the world is sleeping, and so we nod off as well.
Or because the night is when dark things happen, and we lose our way.
Whether down times or dark times, keep on praising the Lord.
When we’re tired, when we’re sleeping, God is still on duty.
He who watches over you will neither slumber nor sleep. (Psalm 121:4)
He is also aware of all that goes on in the night, under cover of darkness.
This is good, and encouraging… unless we are engaging in those dark things.
“The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put
aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.” (Romans 13:12)

As a Jesus follower, I to be found doing my master’s work, whatever my shift.
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, the night is not a time to slough off, but a time to rest in You. Thank You that You are always on duty!
