How does Jesus shape our response to issues?

Posted on January 4, 2019January 3, 2019 by Norm

THE STORY OF JESUS: 1 Corinthians 6-8
“When you sin against them… you sin against Christ.” (1 Corinthians 8:12)
Paul is writing to new Jesus followers in Corinth who asked for advice.
God inspires Paul to give them Jesus-shaped advice.
Jesus is the measuring stick for what they should do.
Paul is doing here what we need to do with issues facing us today.
How does belonging to Jesus and being led by His Spirit shape what we do?
We need to see the connection between our behaviours, and Jesus.
We are not just looking for commands to obey, but the Spirit of His way.
His concern for others, His willingness to suffer to bless others.
Are we seeking our own benefit, or are we seeking the well-being of others?
The Spirit of Jesus will challenge your natural response to others.
You will not use or abuse them, you will not sin against them.
As Jesus followers we know that what we do to others, we do to Jesus.
What issues are you facing, and how might Jesus respond to them?
The Spirit of Jesus is our helper, He will show a Jesus-shaped response.
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, thank You for inspiring Paul to take his issues captive to You. Help me to do the same as I face challenging issues of my own.

‘Keeping God’s commands is what counts.’
This is a possibility only if we a SpiritLed. When that happens we focus on His world and not our world because our world belongs to God. His will needs to be done. In my daily living I need to like a Paul – a living example for all others to see what it means to live for Jesus – a living epistle. I need to be a steppingstone and not a stumbling block for all and this is a possibility when as far as it depends upon me I live at peace with all.

    Make me a servant
    Humble and meek
    Lord let me lift up
    Those who are weak
    And may the prayer
    Of my heart always be
    Make me a servant
    Make me a servant
    Make me a servant today
    Make me a servant
    Humble and meek
    Lord let me lift up
    Those who are weak
    And may the prayer
    Of my heart always be
    Make me a servant
    Make me a servant
    Make me a servant today

think about it!

“The most beautiful experience we can have is the mysterious. It is the fundamental emotion that stands at the cradle of true art and true science.”
