THE STORY OF JESUS: John 16:1-6
“They will do such things because they have not known the Father or me.” (John 16:3)
When the reality of God’s grace and love hit home, we are changed.
I don’t mean just hearing about them, but experiencing them.
To be desperate and broken, and then to experience radical goodness.
This is what Jesus means by ‘knowing’ the Father, and Himself.
We think of knowing as something we do with the mind.
Something we hear about, or understanding – then we know it.
But I can know about something, and yet not know it at all.
Those who hate and hurt others have not experience love and grace.
They may know about God, but they do not KNOW God or Jesus.
The church is filled with many people who know about God and Jesus.
But sadly often many of us show that we don’t KNOW grace and love.
If we did, we would not be so ungracious and unloving.
The experience of grace and love is transforming, it has to be.
“We love because he first loved us. (1 John 4:19)
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, please help me to know You experientially, deeply… not just academically. Transform me with love, that I may reflect Your love!
Jesus warns His followers that they will experience persecution. As Christ was opposed so too the disciples will be opposed. But they as well as we have been given the Spirit to encourage us on our way to help us meet our challenges in our living for Jesus. May His Spirit continue to give His people strength for each day and the hope of the future to be with Him forevermore.
