Friends with Jesus!

Posted on October 30, 2018October 31, 2018 by Norm

THE STORY OF JESUS: John 15:9-17
“I have called you friends.” (John 15:15)
God becomes one with humanity through Jesus.
Jesus, Who is God as a human, calls us friends.
Is this appropriate or reverent, that we should be friends with God?
This does not mean that we are now God’s equals.
But God does want us to be His partners, His co-workers in the garden.
God’s dream is a loving family, a harmony and cooperation with everyone.
This is what we need to have the joy we all want, but can’t seem to find.
This is the problem in our world: we lack love, joy, peace, kindness, etc.
God’s kingdom (His dream for the world) will not come by force or power.
Jesus’ plan is to raise up more friends and partners committed to love.
Like Jesus, we go into a world of hate and greed to change it through love.
This is how people will know we are Jesus’ friends: if we love one another.
Hmm, how are we doing, is love what we are known for?
Are we bearing the kind of fruit that honours God and brings joy?
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, You are my friend, and I am yours. But may I not just claim the title, may I also reveal it’s meaning in my life by producing joy through love.

    Love and friendship.
Christ came and did love, He even gave His life for His friends.
    What love.
And I must do the same.
Others need to see the love of Christ in me in my daily living. That can be shown by living the fruit of the Spirit.
A text that comes to me as a live for Him is – as far as it depends upon me, live at peace with all mankind.
In that spirit of love I need to go forward this day living for Jesus.

    Love, love, love, love
The gospel in a word is love!
Love your neighbor as your brother
    Love, love, love

think about it!

We should seek to become reservoirs rather than canals. For a canal just allows the water to flow through it, but a reservoir waits until it is filled before overflowing, then it can communicate without loss to itself. In the church today, we have many canals but few reservoirs.
