‘You may say that I’m a dreamer!’

Posted on October 27, 2018October 26, 2018 by Norm

THE STORY OF JESUS: Micah 4-7
“Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light.” (Micah 7:8)
Micah is bringing hope to a shamed and desperate nation.
He envisions a day when everyone will love and serve God.
God’s anointed king will rule over all nations, and everyone will welcome it.
No more war, violence, injustice, oppression, suffering, misery.
Micah speaks from his time, to his time, but the dream behind it is timeless.
In short, our sin is the reason for all suffering, but God will set things right.
A day is coming when all evil will end, and God’s goodness will be restored.
Martin Luther King Jr had this same dream for his own day.
And we share this dream too, in words that address our own context.
Jesus has come from Bethlehem, He is ruling over the nations.
Satan is beaten, sin is condemned, death is defeated by life.
Political corruption, racial and economic inequality, abuse, war… will end.
‘You may say that I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one!’
“I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior.” (Micah 7:7)
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, You have a dream, and that dream will one day be true. Help me to act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with You until the nightmare ends, and Your dream begins!

God is restoring His Kingdom through the power of my risen Lord.
As He had promised long ago, He remains faithful to His covenant
and I must do the same,
He has shown us how to live and my dream is that all mankind would live
as far as it depends upon you live at peace with all mankind
which is only a possibility as His people
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly[i] with your God.
    Listen to Him.
    See His wonders.
Emmanuel our God is with us
but we need open heart, minds and ears
to see His wondrous acts today.

    Thy work alone, O Christ,
    can ease this weight of sin;
Thy blood alone, O Lamb of God,
    can give me peace within.
Thy love to me, O God, not mine,
    O Lord, to Thee,
can rid me of the dark unrest,
    and set my spirit free.

think about it!

We fail in our duty to study God’s Word not so much because it is difficult to understand, not so much because it is dull and boring, but because it is work. Our problem is not a lack of intelligence or a lack of passion. Our problem is that we are lazy.
