Spirit-filled words of Jesus!

Posted on August 15, 2018August 15, 2018 by Norm

THE STORY OF JESUS: John 6:60-65
“The words I have spoken to you, they are full of the Spirit and life.” (John 6:63)
The words of Jesus are not always easy to understand.
Many times for myself I have to ponder them for a while.
Sometimes I find their meaning, sometimes I’m not so sure.
But every time I come back to them, I find something more.
The words of Jesus are Spirit-empowered, life-giving words.
The Spirit works through them, and breathes life into the listener.
It was not just about bread, or eating flesh, that Jesus spoke of.
He speaks to our hearts, He pays attention to what lives within us.
He challenges, He convicts, He opens eyes, He draws back to God.
I think back to when God’s Spirit breathed life into Adam (Genesis 2:7).
Every time I listen to Jesus, I feel that same Spirit breathing into me.
Feeding me with love, joy, peace, hope, strength – Spirit and life!
It makes me wonder why some christians don’t ‘eat’ the words of Jesus.
Spend time with Jesus, ask Him to feed you His Spirit and life!
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, breathe on me breath of God, fill me with life anew, that I may love what Thou dost love, and do what Thou wouldst do.

    ‘What if you saw the Son of Man ascend to where He was before’ and He did do that and some saw that! There were ‘doubting Thomases.’ I need to be filled with the Spirit. I need to have open eyes an an open heart so that I too can say like Thomas, ‘My Lord and my God.’
    Open the eyes of my heart Lord.
    Help me daily to walk in Your SonSHine being lead by the Spirit.

    1. Spirit of God, dwell thou within my heart;
    Wean it from earth, through all its pulses move;
    Stoop to my weakness, mighty as thou art,
    And make me love thee as I ought to love.

    2. I ask no dream, no prophet ecstasies,
    No sudden rending of the veil of clay,
    No angel visitant, no opening skies;
    But take the dimness of my soul away.

    3. Didst thou not bid us love thee, God and king?
    All, all thine own: soul, heart, and strength, and mind.
    I see the cross–there teach my heart to cling;
    O let me seek thee and O let me find!

    4. Teach me to feel that thou art always nigh;
    Teach me the struggles of the soul to bear;
    To check the rising doubt, the rebel sigh;
    Teach me the patience of unanswered prayer.

    5. Teach me to love thee as thine angels love,
    One holy passion filling all my frame–
    The baptism of the heaven-descended dove;
    My heart an altar, and thy love the flame.

think about it!

Lord, in my zeal for love of truth, let me not forget the truth about love.
