A faith that works!

Posted on August 8, 2018August 7, 2018 by Norm

THE STORY OF JESUS: John 6:25-29
“The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.” (John 6:29)
Is this all the work that God requires: to just believe?
Believing is more than agreeing with a series of truths.
To profess our faith does not mean we have faith.
To practice our faith demonstrates the reality of faith.
To believe that Jesus is Lord means nothing if I do not obey Him.
A better word to translate ‘believe’ is to trust.
I trust Jesus when I entrust my life to Him.
Whether I see Him or understand Him or not, I will follow Him.
I trust that He knows best, that what He commands is good.
Following Jesus is as simple and as hard as trusting in Jesus.
It means trusting that He set me free from sin and death, for new life!
And it means trying – trusting in His help – to live that life.
Do we believe Jesus is restoring God’s world to be ‘very good’ again?
Then let’s show that belief by joining with Him in that work!
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, help me to move beyond mere belief, to a faith that moves with You, like You, for You.

    Jesus is the Bread of Life.
    Jesus fed the people with the loaves and fishes. That satisfied the physical hunger.
    I also have spiritual hunger an only Jesus can satisfy that need/desire. God requires to believe in Christ and He will also satisfy that hunger.
    As I work for daily food, I must also to satisfy my spiritual hunger via my devotional times and do the work God requires.
    Trust and obey.
    I’m in service for the King.
    Living for Jesus and not for myself.
    Christ in me evidenced by my words and deeds.
    2
    Living for Jesus who died in my place,
    Bearing on Calv’ry my sin and disgrace;
    Such love constrains me to answer His call,
    Follow His leading and give Him my all.
    3
    Living for Jesus wherever I am,
    Doing each duty in His holy name;
    Willing to suffer affliction and loss,
    Deeming each trial a part of my cross.
    4
    Living for Jesus through earth’s little while,
    My dearest treasure, the light of His smile;
    Seeking the lost ones He died to redeem,
    Bringing the weary to find rest in Him.

think about it!

The notion that religion is dull, stupid and sleepy is abhorrent to God, for He has created infinite variety and He loves to surprise us. If you are weary of some sleepy form of devotion, probably God is as weary of it as you are.
