The enemy crushed!

Posted on July 29, 2018July 31, 2018 by Norm

THE STORY OF JESUS: Psalm 110
“The LORD says to my lord, ‘Sit at my right hand…” (Psalm 110:1)
Who is David, the king, speaking about… who is his lord?
Jesus also asks this: “If then David calls him ‘Lord,’ how can he be his son?” (Matthew 22:45)
One Jewish response is that David wrote this psalm for the Levites to sing.
“The LORD [God] said to my lord [King David], ‘Sit at my right hand…'”
However David meant it, he knows that his throne depends on God.
He knows God’s promise that his throne will ALWAYS be filled (2 Samuel 7:13-14).
The line of David had many high and low points, but Jesus was the highest.
I’m not sure who Jews claim to be on David’s throne, but we affirm Jesus as Lord.
This is not a claim to Jesus being divine, but to being the promised messiah!
Jesus is the woman’s seed that comes to crush the serpent’s seed. (Genesis 3:15).
Jesus rules not by sword or violence, but by goodness and mercy – like God.
Jesus is what we were supposed to be, and therefore reigns (Genesis 1:26-28).
I am thankful that God has invited Jesus – my Lord – to the throne.
Goodness and mercy have triumphed, and Satan and sin will be crushed (110:5-6).
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, I eagerly want to see Satan and sin crushed. You are the One to do it, and share with David this joyful hope that God’s throne will triumph in the end!

    Who is in charge?
    -The Lord says.
    – The Lord will extend
    – The Lord has sworn
    – The Lord is your right hand
In all things, in all happenings, in the daily affairs of life I must stop, look and listen where God’s hand is in all. This after all is my Father’s world.

1 This is my Father’s world,
    And to my listening ears
All nature sings, and round me rings
    The music of the spheres.
    This is my Father’s world:
I rest me in the thought
Of rocks and trees, of skies and seas–
    His hand the wonders wrought.

2 This is my Father’s world:
    The birds their carols raise,
The morning light, the lily white,
    Declare their Maker’s praise.
    This is my Father’s world:
    He shines in all that’s fair;
In the rustling grass I hear Him pass,
    He speaks to me everywhere.

3 This is my Father’s world:
    O let me ne’er forget
That though the wrong seems oft so strong,
    God is the Ruler yet.
    This is my Father’s world:
Why should my heart be sad?
The Lord is King: let the heavens ring!
God reigns; let earth be glad!

think about it!

We ought not to grow tired of doing little things for the love of God, who regards not the greatness of the work, but the love with which it is performed.
