Blessing our towns and cities!

Posted on May 26, 2018May 26, 2018 by Norm

THE STORY OF JESUS: Jeremiah 29-30
“Seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you.” (Jeremiah 29:7)
God’s followers have been dispersed throughout the world, mixed among the godless.
God’s dream remains to gather and establish His family in His kingdom paradise.
But for now, those that humbly love and serve live among those that don’t.
Whatever we do, we are not to organize a rebellion, nor hide in our holy huddles.
We are called to live in the world, but not to live like the world.
We are urged to bring God’s grace, mercy and peace wherever we go.
We are called to seek the peace and prosperity of our communities.
For everyone, not just the elite; for the rich and poor, strong and weak.
As we seek first God’s kingdom and righteousness, He will provide what we need.
God’s plans are not just for ME; He is offering hope and a future for all.
But they cannot know about it, or experience it, unless we show them.
Jesus sent His disciples to different towns to bring His peace (Luke 10:1,5).
Jesus has sent us where we are too, to seek the blessing of our neighbours.
Am I living for myself, or huddling in my church, or blessing my community for Jesus?
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, every person I meet today is someone that You have plans for too. Help me to join You in caring about them, and somehow seeking their peace and prosperity.

Listen to the voice of the Lord.
    He has plans for us
    but
we must seek Him in all we say and do.
Wherever we are, we need to seek His face.
And we need to pray for the leaders who rule.
    Hear the Word.
Live that Word so that others may see we are His.
I am His and He is mine
an His banner over me is love.

The Lord is mine and I am His,
His banner over me is love.
The Lord is mine and I am His,
His banner over me is love.
The Lord is mine and I am His,
His banner over me is love.
His banner over me is love!

He brought me to His banqueting table,
His banner over me is love.
He brought me to His banqueting table,
His banner over me is love.
He brought me to His banqueting table,
His banner over me is love.
His banner over me is love!

He lifted me up into heavenly places,
His banner over me is love.
He lifted me up into heavenly places,
His banner over me is love.
He lifted me up into heavenly places,
His banner over me is love.
His banner over me is love!

He is the vine and we are the branches,
His banner over me is love.
He is the vine and we are the branches,
His banner over me is love.
He is the vine and we are the branches,
His banner over me is love.
His banner over me is love!

Jesus is the rock of my salvation,
His banner over me is love.
Jesus is the rock of my salvation,
His banner over me is love.
Jesus is the rock of my salvation,
His banner over me is love.
His banner over me is love!

There’s one way to peace through the power of the cross,
His banner over me is love,
There’s one way to peace through the power of the cross,
His banner over me is love,
There’s one way to peace through the power of the cross,
His banner over me is love.
His banner over me is love!

think about it!

Keeping to the main road is easy, but people love to be sidetracked.
